I'm not a fan of any of his other solo albums. He doesn't really push him self vocally compared to this album. Also, not really a fan of Captain Midnite's production (the guy who produces Jonny's solo work nowadays).

Last time he was still drinking and smoking weed before relapsing which maybe wasn't suitable for him. Plus, you're masking stuff with opioids or trying to run from a feeling. In the majority of cases. Then whenever you get sober all of the pain, emotion etc you've medicated away hits you and you've gotta process it. It's almost like you get stuck at the point you got hooked, whilst adding any baggage added during addiction. So constantly seeing this type of comments on your music (which he does read) isn't easy. He can never get free of it. Which must be awful. Like, he makes a new song he's really proud of, he's trying etc. Then has some dude who's never met him and doesn't know what he's even like bringing up stuff he did a decade ago.
