    I've gone on a massive streak of trying gloves over the past two years and man Thai stitching is consistent and quality. Hard to find gloves that fit me in the Thai brands, especially in the thumb piping and positioning, but the leather and stitching quality as well as the passing and protection has been incredible quality and worth the $150-$300 price range

    I have these gloves in 16oz and I used them for sparring. Then again, I used the gloves on the bag for a while to brake them in. I would go roughly 4 mins a round/10 rounds on the bag, I got no complaints so far from my sparring partners. Then again, when we do spar, we go 30-40 percent power.

    • @roberthsu94

      @@ThatBoxingGuy Hey, I forgot to mention. I been using it on the bag for 10 rounds, for a month, before I sparred in them. It definitely gotten softer compared the first time I had them. However, in my opinion, it still feels a little dense. I do agree with you though that the inner layer is nice. Overall, I think it is okay for sparring since I got them in 16oz, and I got no complaints yet. I always tell my sparring partners, if you notice these gloves feel to rough, or hard, I will gladly switch them out. I have a spare fairtex glory gloves 16oz and those are super soft.

      @@ThatBoxingGuy They are kind on the expensive side ($120 including shipping to the US). Which puts them just under a pair of Cletos. My only concern with the Cletos (and I also saw your review on them) is that they might be a bit wide for my skinny and long hands. Also, I just love the grip bar at the end of the finger tips on the Fairtex. If the BGL7s are less wide than the Reyes, and have the two grip bar system then I am kind of sold on them. Or should I just go for some nice and shinny Cletos? What would you do? Awesome channel you have BTW. Thanks!

    Hi Bernard. Thanks for the review. I was wondering if you had any experience with the Cleto Reyes extra padding gloves and how it would compare to these ones. I'm 5'9'' 165, my hands are starting to be a concern as I'm getting older...I can't afford Winning and Rivals' RB11 bag gloves hurt my hands pretty bad (impact absorption is actually great but the foam compresses the top of my knuckles. Bought 2 different sizes and they also don't seems like they would ever "break in"). I train mainly in kickboxing but they would be used only on heavy bag, sometimes for pad work.

I love these gloves but would like to keep the weight down for bag work. If you can fit a 12oz, would you say that the hand compartment is roomy?

    • @ThatBoxingGuy
      @ThatBoxingGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for commenting. But yeah, it really depends of the brand. Some brands like Cleto have the gloves a smaller fit as you go down in ounces. So I was surprised how well my hand fitted in these gloves

    Is there any reason why these shouldn't be used as a Muay Thai training glove ? (Except sparring which you covered)

    • @ThatBoxingGuy
      @ThatBoxingGuy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      According to my Muay Thai friends, the back of the hand doesn’t have enough padding to block kicks, and the wrist is not flexible compared to traditional MT gloves for clinching

    • @williammurray1740
      @williammurray1740 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most of the time in Muay Thai class / drill work your not actually catching full force kicks unless your sparring (when yes you would use a more padded 16oz sparring glove) but for light drilling, pad work and the heavy bag, these gloves look like they could be a good option to me, when you want something not too bulky and pillow like for better feedback from pads and bag.
      Most clinching practice that I have seen is done without gloves on at all, and when your full sparring in 16oz gloves, clinching becomes a bit awkward.
      I actually train most of the time in Rival RFX Guerrero 10oz bag gloves, which I love. The only draw back is the hard plastic D ring on the wrist does scrape your pad holders head when you grab them to knee. Hence my interest in these BGV9s in 12 or 14oz as an option.

    Are these good for a relative beginner? Looking to get my first 'proper' pair of gloves for my amateur gym. Heard these well recommended by loads on the net - but i am concerned they are too hard for a beginner still learning how to punch the bag properly - my cheaper amazon set hurt my knuckles. My price bracket is just over £100. I had a look at your ratings which are very great for getting an idea, but they don't quite tell me what is good from a beginner point of view :) Ideally, I don't want to wait for a glove to me made and ship from Pakistan, although I could wait If you'd particularly say one is good for a beginner. All purpose, protective beginner glove of choice under £110 what is your pick please :)
