Thank you for sharing this. I am still looking for several memorable 1980's TV clips, including the PBS sign-off I used to hear, when I lived in the San Francisco Bay area.
"TV55 now concludes it's programming schedule. Portions of today's programs were pre-recorded. Programs broadcast on this station may not be used for any purpose except for exhibition at the time of broadcast on receivers of the type ordinarily used for home reception and in places where no admission, cover or mechanical operating charges are made. Broadcasting by authority of the Federal Communications Commission, TV55 transmits an effective radiated power of five million watts and operates on frequencies from 716 to 722 megahertz. WBNX TV55 is owned and operated by Winston Broadcasting Network. Our signal is transmitted from our tower in Parma and the studios are located at 2690 State Road Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. WBNX TV55 now leaves the air but will return this morning with another full day of family television. The TV55 family bid you good night."
3:28 THANK YOU for confirming a test card with a tone. I reconise that tone and wow that scares Coyotes??? Better then slamming pots and pans. You have been a part of my life for decades. Channel 55's digital subchannel 55.2 still signs off every night. That subchannel is an independent station the shows religious programming.
I am surprised that a TV channel is still signing off in 2000. I wonder if it was because they needed to perform maintenance on the equipment.
They still did this as late as 2000? I thought they’ve stopped this practice, like, around the mid-1990s
Looking for WGN Chicago from the early 60s I can't believe it's gone?
WBNX is now independent

You know, I definately remember this. TV55's signal (untill the DTV conversion) came in quite clear here in extreme western Mercer County, PA.
God Bless America and protect our Democracy.

When did signing off officially stop, or is it still going on??
0:06 I thought it was the 1980s, not 2000.
Yeah, this sign-off is from the 1980s.
@@pikwikfan3505 No it’s not. This is from 2000. The WB didn’t exist in the 80s
This practice is as early as late 1985.
