This song kills me. My Dad dedicated it to my mother all the time. At there 50tj anniversary. He couldn’t he couldn’t even get through his speech. He was amazing and this song meant everything. He passed away in June. His wife of 57 years by his side. And this song. Thank you!
Had this song played at the church service for my parents 50th wedding anniversary...it suited us all to a tee ! Dad has since passed on but want to say Thank You John , for giving us such a memory to hold on to !
This song has become a memorial in honor of my Mom and Dad. She had deep roots in Ireland and he had Scottish roots. They met and married in Baltimore. He traveled to Oregon to work for Belt seed company, and wrote many letters to her while she was still back east. The love was palpable. The "whole crew" is more than a metaphor. They ended up with eight kids, and eventually close to 20 grandchildren. They were incredibly devoted to one another. The song touches my heart every time I hear it.
My husband and I, his first mate and vice versa (of 48 years), adore this! It is our story. Thank you, John McDermott. No one sings "Voyage" as beautifully as you.
I love this song my wife and I have adopted this as our theme song for our second voyage together and we used it to renew our vows of love and marriage together!
I'm seeing John in concert (4th time) this Sunday night. As always, I'm sure it will be a superb concert regardless. But a truly hope "Voyage" and "One Small Star" are on his playlist. They are by far my favourites by one of my all time favourite singers.
I lost my First Mate 20 years today (Dec.3, 2004.) I had it played for our 25th anniversary in 2000. It still tightens my throat and brings tears.

I loved this song that was sent to us to play on our 55th anniversary-today. Am saving it for a memory to keep. Thanks, Melanie.
