The X70 is the beginning of a catalyst for Proton. It can only get better moving forward. Even the in coming X50 has improved features. Nothing can be declared as " norm" nowdays because things evolve dramatically in the automotive industry. Only those with true grit and determination to succeed will prevail. Geely made a comprehensive study about Proton before buying over the brand as they could forsee they can turn it around. Now I can say I'm proud of my National car. It has come of age!

@@pigdrivers Respect your opinion on the matter. I reserve mine. Foreign own or not? I still say it's better for Proton to be in it's current position rather than before? We have to face reality that almost everything now are made in China and gone are the days that China made products are below par? Now, they are even better than everybody else through sheer economic of scale. China evolve and simply dominate the world.

This Geely Coolray (X50) is becoming popular here in the Philippines. I hope Geely will introduce also the other features of X50 to the coolray.

@Ek that's because Temasek is just an island more or less the same size as Pulau Pinang (M'sia+- 331,000 km² vs S'pore +-7700 km²), and Malaysia has a more varied geography compared to S'pore. To date Malaysia has had to build +-250,000 km of roads compared to +-9400km in S'pore and M'sia has built more schools (+-2400 vs +-190).
So don't come here and 'berlagak bagus' when we did not split on equal footing (1965 S'pore v M'sia GDP/capita = USD 516 v 310, 9.5 million vs 1.9 million population at the time), Malaysia is 481 times bigger than Singapore and requires a lot more time and resources to develope (Sabah n Sarawak is still grossly under developed compared to peninsula).
Even if M'sia n S'pore were equally rich, S'pore didn't have to spend as much on building basic infrastructure for the whole country. Not to mention not being sidetracked by having to face the existential threat of communism, and needing to expend resources to build capacity and capability to fight back.
So go berlagak elsewhere la tolol.

hello pig I think you don't get it, don't you.. I clearly said if Proton can't sell out their product well outside/overseas it will be win for Geely. Proton car is more innovative than Pre-Volvo buy up copycat Geely (Lotus handling, sporty driving). In the U.K, Australia and Middle East people know Proton is a good car than Geely, except Proton don't have money and can't spend big like Korean and Japanese automakers. While in the US, U.K and advanced country, Volvo really need to proves hard that Geely is nothing to do with them since ever Geely bought them. From stand point Geely don't have innovation except have a lot of money to spend. During negotiations Geely wanted more than 65% share but somehow have to accepted it as minority/49% since they desperately need Lotus to catching up with Tesla - first Tesla car 70% comes from Lotus.

How many new brands have come up especially EV. Oh give you some tips, go look at the recently held Beijing motorshow and see how it went. You could argue it's all about cost and taxes if not Japanese car could sell at proton price. In 2006, I was watching a TV commercial at home, then suddenly I heard God the Holy Spirit’s voice, “I am going to give you a BMW”. The TV commercial was showing a black BMW 3 series E90. Though astounded, I believed despite the odds. I just believed God despite I only dreamed of changing my Proton to a Japanese car. In 2007, God told me to accept a new job offer that paid 3 times more. In 2008, suddenly in the office I heard God’s voice “Go ahead and buy a BMW, enjoy my finances”. I immediately sold my Proton Wira and bought my first BMW a three series from Ingress Auto. Thank God!

True! American financial institutions and American corporations have been earning a big ton of money from developing countries by manufacturing goods at a much cheaper rate too, and the financial institutions that bank rolled these factories that employ workers at a low rate to sell back to USA for big profits (contributing to the trade deficit) earns plenty of money too that wasn't reflected in the deficit! Moreover, upon contributing labour (which requires education, food, electricity, water, resources and time - from them to grow from embryos to adults to work in American factories) and also natural resources; these two output were exchanged for US Dollars - with which USA simply prints them and can exchange with all countries around the world. Ultimately, the so called 'trade-deficit' is a simple term to rally Americans, as 700-300=400 is easier to understand than which financial institutions earn, how much real world value was exchanged for printed green bills. :)
