Remember playing with my dalek in the mid 60's with my cousin, my dad bought it for me when he was working away. Sadly it fell down a flight of stone stairs in my aunties house and broke to pieces. Always liked daleks since then
@@stevesstuff1450 Your welcome! I've been watching this video so many times! Always interests me! Also, Daleks are my favourite Doctor Who Monster! :-)
Very good review of the toys I was vehemtly denied as a child! lol I was never a great fan of the NSDs (stuck in my ways) til I saw a fan-made full size job painted in 60s colours. What a difference, I liked it like that.

Back in the 60's I had a very small Dalek that had a ball bearing inside. It rolled around on this and of course was fired off the table often. I think it cost me 3d from the Ideal Home Exhibition, Bingley Hall, Birmingham in about 63 or 64. Now I have only one Dalek the PE black talking Dalek that was gifted to me about 10 years ago.
Thank you! I'd forgotten that I even showed that one! :-) If you can get hold of one of the kits at a reasonable price now, it's well worth the effort to build one.. :-)
Really great collection remember watching this when I was about 9 when the video originally came out I’m much older now and have a vast collection of the character options daleks I think they’re splendid on a side note I hope that original 60’s eyestalk was easy to repair after it fell off the coffee table
Thanks very much for re-watching this video all these years later!! Yep, Character Options have done a great job with most of their releases - my collection has also grown since the video too! And yes, that idiot that leapt of the table was soon patched-up with some super glue....he won't be doing that again!
Nice work on the special weapons dalek. I see there is a figure available on Amazon, but nothing quite like having a custom built one that looks pretty spot on.
I still have the Herts Plastic Moulders Dalek that I got in 1965. I had the original Marx Dalek. The batteries were U11 as I recall. Now called C batteries. They changed the mechanism because it was said to be too dangerous, not because you couldn't get the batteries.
I had the black infra-red control product enterprise movie dalek, I adored it until it broke. I loved the movements of it, even though it had no reverse, it was great fun to use
Great collection. I have a lot of the ones you have, my favourite ones being the Product Enterprise Movie and Invasion Earth Daleks. I hope to upload a video of them soon.
No Rolykins?! My brother has a 12" Sevans model kit, which he won via a short story competition in DWM Magazine. I have an uncompleted Comet Miniatures kit somewhere in the cupboard.
Sadly, No... no original Rolykins! As for the 12" Sevans models, I have a couple of those that I made some 30 years ago that have survived, but they were outside the context of this video... I also have a couple of the Comet kits that have just about survived, and even some cardboard and fibreglass models that I made based on the Comet dimensions: those were made in the early 90's and have also survived, but once again, outside the scope of this video! :-) Thanks for watching and commenting...you've got me thinking now about a another video based around Dalek model-kits... ;-)
And to reply to myself..... I’m still thinking about it!! Takes a lot thinking about; how to present it; some of those models are now 30+ years old and are rather fragile (the glue gets very brittle over time!). I’ll work something out...plus there’s a few new C.O. Daleks I can show too, so I just need to get stuff together - and some decent lighting!
I don't know if you remember the one that was brought out as a top shape for the' head so to speak! It then had a plastic bottom half in plastic material! For a kid to fit in! That was fun to have back then 😉That was great fun to look at all of those! thank you!
Was that the costume one that came out in early/mid 60s? Had a hard plastic dome and neck bin section, and the skirt was a soft plastic? If it was that one, sadly I never had one - it was too expensive back then!! Worth a mint nowadays if any survived! 😀
@@dalek4463 : Ah... do you mean the larger 12" movie and TV Daleks that they made? If so, then yes, I have the gold movie Dalek; it looks rather splendid!

NewtonDKC I agree, it makes the Paradigm dalek more palatable to me. Though, I still prefer the early classic themselves & wish they had just continued to do variations on them. :)

I made this one all those years ago when I was off sick from work prior to some pretty major abdominal surgery; I'm back at work now and in reasonable health, and so haven't really had the time to make that follow-up that I suggested.... time will tell - it always does ;-) However, I appreciate your very kind words...it means a lot!
I remember playing with some very small ones in the early sixty's they was about 25-35 mm tall and had a ball-bearing to help it move about they where very cheap and a lot of them to make them fun to play with
My talking Dalek still works, and it has the box which is damaged, and likewise with my K9. The reason they both still work is that they live in their boxes sans batteries. The silver Dalek is the rare one and the red ones were the most common, but I picked the silver one because it was more accurate at the time. The only K9s that work have the control button on backwards like mine.I brought them at a large Tescos in South Wales when I was at Art School. I also have a smaller Davros and it also has two arms!?
Good job on re colouring the loathsome pregnant Lego Dalek. It improves the look but not the design. I have two Dalek toys from the 1970s (both of which I bought in the '70s). One is a re-release of the Marx bump and go Dalek. When I visited Comet Miniatures in 1994 they had a Marx Dalek with a redesigned dome which made it more realistic. I have not seen any mention of it on the internet.
Ah ok, I recommend getting the Dapol Daleks made between 1985-2000. They are about 4" big and you can easily get them for about £10 each and their are LOTS of different colour versions
Repainted Marx Daleks were used as an army for a large-field shot in "Planet of the Daleks". Further explaination may be found at www.dalek6388.co.uk/info-graphics/.
can someone help, i used to have this dalek toy that was given to me. all the parts on it moved and there was a button on the bottom so if you pushed it down it would speak but it broke (i may have broke its eye) and i really want one, does anyone know where i could find one of these
From where i can buy Dalek Toys? And does they deliever them to Germany too or is it "Uk only"? I really really love the Daleks and would like to have some of them^^ Sorry for bad english and greetings from a German Dr Who Fan ^-^
I’m from Australia, I got my first Dalek, (The Mutant Reveal Bronze Dalek to be exact) from EBay from a UK seller. So it is possible to buy Daleks even from other countries from EBay, I hope this helps. I’m currently looking for a character options 1963 style Dalek. I hope I can find a cheap one.
+sharpxshockz Well its not because of their age as much, its mainly because they are now obsolete and not a real lot of them were made especially the silver and blue with red ears. They were originally £30 and the final ones made in about 2008
None of the original '60s Rolykins anymore; had a couple as a kid, back then, but as with SO many things, they just disappeared over the years!! I do have a few of the ones released in the '90s by Product Enterprise, but I forgot about those when I made the video!! 😂
What a good collection & explanation of the differences. Sadly, the only one I remember from the `60`s & actually tried to collect, was the small black one @ 43.30. I had a vague memory of clockwork ones, but, did not own one. With the design of the paradigm, I think, it was meant to be more imposing as the film one`s were. Perhaps, to make it easier for the operators also. But, they should have used the films colour scheme, instead of their gaudy look, IMO. Even without being forewarned, I disliked them instantly. If you do not mind, I will add to my page. :)
Thanks for the kind compliments :-) Ah....that small black one at 43.30.... I think that was the Cherilea Swappit....they came in a wide range of colours, and the mid section was tiny in comparison with the skirt/base! I used to have a light greenish blue one back in the early 70's!
You are welcome. I hope the younger fans are showing an interest in all the earlier variation of Daleks. It was sort of another nod to the 50th when the B.B.C. featured as many of the previous version`s as they could, in the recent two-parter. :)
i love the look of the paradigm in 60's livery but we have moved on to a new era of dalek and its time we went bigger and the paradigm daleks dominate the 60's to present day and they truly are the dominant species of the doctor who universe i love them

I didn't miss them out, I either don't have (large Davros, Supreme), I just wanted this video to show the smaller ones I have in my collection...One day I shall come back (!) with another video showing the 12" remote control Daleks, and some of the Sevans 12" model kits that I've built....and a few of there newer smaller Daleks that I've picked up since this video.....it's just finding the time!! 😃
@wednesday_tvshow: When I get the time and inspiration to film a sequel.. 😃 I've not left YT, and follow a bunch of other subjects that take more of my free time - plastic modelling, and audio, hi-fi, vintage equipment, retro games, etc.... I'm not here to make money out of YT, and when I do post, it's purely because it's something that I'm interested in... and more Daleks will follow..... 😉 👍
Can't believe I watched that get broken. It survived all those years, then completely devalued in an instant. Who would let such a rare toy, loose on a table top with a hard floor beneath?
Sorry I didn’t get back earlier; missed your comment.... I’m still thinking about, and planning a second video, especially as I now have a few more Daleks to show, along with the older model kits and customs! Just waiting to get the time to make it!!
Are you sure the assault dalek (bronze claw) has a mutant reveal? I got one a few years ago and have never known it to do that. Also, I wish in 2010 the paradigm daleks were coloured your way, and just had small details to distinguish ranks, instead of looking like a bag of skittles. Your colouring made it look very good. I also think the 2010 gun was designed too big, do you?
Hi, sorry I'm late replying...... but, with regards the Dalek with the claw; that "mutant reveal" front piece may have come from a different Dalek at the time.... I seem to remember one being sold with that feature as well, so I may have mixed them up! ;-) And thanks for your compliments on the 2010 Paradigm look.... I agree that the gun was too big on that style, as was the shelf that it came out from!! They really shouldn't have tried to push that design on us, even though I did 'quite like it'..... but only "quite"... I'm glad the older style came back, and even more glad that the even older 60's and 70's style came back later too!! Can't beat a 'classic' Dalek' ;-)
Some Dalek toys were used in the series due to lack of CGI in the 60s and 70s as it would be too much money to make a lot of Dalek props especially in episodes Power of the Daleks, Evil of the Daleks and Planet of the Daleks.

Yes, of courseI've heard of Corgi, and have one only, but I forgot to include it in the video......so terribly sorry..... I also forgot to feature the PE mini-movie Daleks that had sound-chips in them too.... Oh well... maybe some other time .......
Not to worry. Also I think you said that Character Opinions did every single Dalek or something like it well they did do a lot but there are some Daleks that are still missing such as the Glass Dalek from Revelation of the Daleks, the Peter Cushing Movie Daleks and one that I have just thought of recently the Dalek that appeared in The Five Doctors. However in the case of the Movie Daleks its the licence and in the second sound effects Daleks wave 2, they did make the Dalek Guard which was a Movie Dalek but in TV series form and I'm sure Character would love to make sets of the two films but they sadly don't have the licence.
I have the gold movie dalek with the remote control that is cream and it's in the style of the ship from the dalek invasion of earth all in good condition but it dont have the claw it has the plunger style arm. I was thinking of putting it on ebay i don't even know what it's worth as i dont have the box unfortunately but its all works and lights up ect just got a lot of dust on it as i just kept in in a room standing for many years doing nothing lol Anybody knows what i could get for it as ebay just ask for silly prices in the £200 range and the 8 inch they want £145 and some of them don't work. I was going to buy a few 12 inch ones but i notice there isn't many around from the movie and that's when i saw how much they wanted for them so i thought well i can't afford to buy any more at that price so i may as well sell it as its just collecting dust i also have another 12inch one but that's not from the movie and its black as the bottom base isint rounded like the movie version again it's in mint and all works again no box

can someone help, i used to have this dalek toy that was given to me. all the parts on it moved and there was a button on the bottom so if you pushed it down it would speak but it broke (i may have broke its eye) and i really want one, does anyone know where i could find one of these
In the Sixties when I was a kid one of the boys who lived in my road had a Dalek plastic suit, his Dalek voice was inferior to mine.
Hey did you sell that silver dalek Louis Marx dalek the one that's eye fell off because I have one just like it with its eye missing
Nope....I still have it...I super-glued the eyepiece back in place too shortly after it dived off the table!!
From where i can buy Dalek Toys? And does they deliever them to Germany too or is it "Uk only"? I really really love the Daleks and would like to have some of them^^
Sorry for bad english and greetings from a German Dr Who Fan ^-^
I’m from Australia, I got my first Dalek, (The Mutant Reveal Bronze Dalek to be exact) from EBay from a UK seller. So it is possible to buy Daleks even from other countries from EBay, I hope this helps.
I’m currently looking for a character options 1963 style Dalek. I hope I can find a cheap one.
21.16 What particular daleks are those called please ?
+sharpxshockz They are called Infra Red Movie Daleks from the Peter Cushing Movies
+Alessio So how much do they go for ?
+sharpxshockz Depends which colour you want, anywhere between £40-£70
+Alessio Is that just because of there age or where they just expensive to begin with?
+sharpxshockz Well its not because of their age as much, its mainly because they are now obsolete and not a real lot of them were made especially the silver and blue with red ears. They were originally £30 and the final ones made in about 2008
Can I just ask where you can get these from ??
+sharpxshockz eBay is your best hope for most like the Marx Dalek
Great collection, but no Rolykins?
Thanks for the kind compliments :-)
Ah....that small black one at 43.30....
i heard some remembrance of the daleks music like at 8:30 or 7:50
Yep! :-) Great music from a great story :-)
The description of the Dalek action of the first ones is a huge mood NEGL lol
Also should be mobile but isn't. Also just like me for real.
20:35 that dalek sounds German
Ha Ha!! See what you mean! Low batteries I think ;-)
i love the look of the paradigm in 60's livery but we have moved on to a new era of dalek and its time we went bigger and the paradigm daleks dominate the 60's to present day and they truly are the dominant species of the doctor who universe i love them
Wow the custom special weapon dalek looks like the real version... I'm impressed
I had the gold and black one about half way through the video made by product enterprise (I think)
I used to think it was an awesome Dalek. ^^
It looks like the Dalek Supreme from Planet of the Daleks
@@jkmenttonet1478 You know there is an interesting story about that particular prop. check out Dalek 63.88, use this link if you want. th-cam.com/video/sy1DAsAbHc0/w-d-xo.html
you missed out the large remote controlled dalek, davros, and supreme or emperor dalek, ? I collected all of these, along with the k9..
have 2 12" daleks for spare / repair, with working electronics on both frequencies but no remotes, if know anyone...@@stevesstuff1450
@wednesday_tvshow: When I get the time and inspiration to film a sequel.. 😃
I've not left YT, and follow a bunch of other subjects that take more of my free time - plastic modelling, and audio, hi-fi, vintage equipment, retro games, etc.... I'm not here to make money out of YT, and when I do post, it's purely because it's something that I'm interested in... and more Daleks will follow..... 😉 👍
Are the movie dalek inf red daleks worth any real money as i own the black and blue models with the blue lights i have hardly found any reviews.
Did you ever get that vintage dalek toy fixed? (The one with the snapped off eye stock.)
Can't believe I watched that get broken. It survived all those years, then completely devalued in an instant. Who would let such a rare toy, loose on a table top with a hard floor beneath?
I remember a clockwork one.
It's snapped off blast!! Lol.
Wish i had a collection like you! By the way are thinking of uploading?
I seem to remember one being sold with that feature as well, so I may have mixed them up! ;-)
And thanks for your compliments on the 2010 Paradigm look....
Cool video! Just one question: do you use those fingernails to climb trees or are you training to be a wizard? XD
No training needed......... ;-)
Awesome
Some Dalek toys were used in the series due to lack of CGI in the 60s and 70s as it would be too much money to make a lot of Dalek props especially in episodes Power of the Daleks, Evil of the Daleks and Planet of the Daleks.
awesome ❤ subbed
3:08 Grey: SCREW THIS GUY, GERAAANIMOOOOO!!!!!
3:10 Black: Y-Yeah! SCREW YOU! IM OUTTA HERE! GRAY! WAIT UP!!!
3:25 Gray: MY VISION IS IMPAIRED!!! MY VISION IS IMPAIRED!!! MY VISION IS IMPAIRED!!! MY VISION IS IMPAIRED!!! MY VISION IS IMPAIRED!!! MY VISION IS IMPAIRED!!!
Alex (Hiro Hamada) lol
you missed out the stone dalek
I didn't "miss" it.... I don't own one! ;-)
Cool!
VISION IMPAIRED! VISION IMPAIRED! LOSS OF CONTROL! (Random distant sound of self destruct for no apparent reason)
it would be nice if the pullback one wasn't so fast.
Great
Have you heard of Corgi?
+Dragon Zilla Just so you know I will be doing a dalek toy history review too including Corgi daleks, the 3.75 and every dalek toy you can think of that has ever been made
Alessio Awesome! I can't wait until that's out! :)
You forgot the mini daleks that moved and talked
neato like em and well get one fixed ))))
I have the gold movie dalek with the remote control that is cream and it's in the style of the ship from the dalek invasion of earth all in good condition but it dont have the claw it has the plunger style arm. I was thinking of putting it on ebay i don't even know what it's worth as i dont have the box unfortunately but its all works and lights up ect just got a lot of dust on it as i just kept in in a room standing for many years doing nothing lol
Anybody knows what i could get for it as ebay just ask for silly prices in the £200 range and the 8 inch they want £145 and some of them don't work.
Legal 😍
