I have to comment because Freddie is one of the top five all-time great trumpeters and if the date is correct this may be one of last consistent solos. Perhaps even some of the blowing that contributed to his injury in the fall of 92'. This solo has some great lines. I think he's just a little 'stoned'. Not the end of the world. BTW, who's Termusa Hino? Don't know if you noticed a young Josh Redman plugging his ears because it's too loud and Billy Higgins on timpani.

Um, why doesn't the rhythm section ever go to the bridge? That really sucks they left Freddie hangin like that, how are cats not gonna know the changes to Night in Tunisia?

Yeah Freddie's not totally happy here (probably the way he's hearing it - since he checks another mic') and that probably takes an edge off what he does (but still GREAT). Then we get an example of over blowing some good riffs but the music is not really happening.
repeating "A" sections or verses as somebody called 'em until the climax is NEVER the way to play this tune for the record to all you young jazzers. unless you've got your own band...then of course you can do what the hell you want. but for jams...just play the tune! and gonzalo isn't in the pocket and didn't destroy anyone. my fav is josh redman in the background holding his ears near the beginning of freddie's solo. the bass player looks like donovan mcnabb.....haha. ok, i'm done.

Hino seems possessed to outplay Hub, not play music. Crappy Lee imitation. As for the ensemble, horrible intonation and lousy attacks all around. When Gonzalo takes over it's like a Rolaids.
Love the japanese! their reaction to jazz concerts is great! its always so good to watch mt fiji jazz festival with its so colaborative audience.

Terumasa is quite good. I have the intuition to dislike asian musicians (My excuse, but that's just how i learned it, and I think it's bullshit)
