    Duuuude your vids are super chill! I'm always thinking that I'm a dang crazy person for spending hours and hours prepping soil, repotting and generally doing plant stuff. Super nice to know that there's ppl out there doing the same 💚 btw, your insta posts are hilarious

      You can do it!! I’ve heard as long as you can keep things really sterile, they propagate pretty easily. Mine is still callousing over right under a grow light but I think I’ll be moving it to soil in about a week 🤞🏼

    I just love your videos. Watching you deal with your plants is genuinely therapeutic. I purposely seek out calming things to watch, to help me with my anxieties and other crap that life likes to throw my way. I was at my darkest moments watching baking vids, as it was all so methodic and precise, and I still do, (and bake fantastic cakes), however since getting in houseplants especially with lockdown that occured in the UK end of March last year, I started nursing my houseplant more and suddenly this whole world of plants I didn't even knew of slapped me in the chops. I'm a beginner but really want to learn more and the Aroids I've accumulated over the have now shown me their appreciation pushing out massive new growths which is so rewarding. I'm still learning and my obsessive behaviours at have put me in a situation where I may have bit off with more than I can chew (hello Warocqueanum) but I'm trying, and won't give up and hopefully get my own queen acclimatised and thriving. And your videos, show how much work you have out behind the care of your plants - you genuinely care for them and they aren't just a showpiece. That I find is so admirable and encourages me to continue despite mishaps. Basically, in short, you are ace and thank you for your efforts with these videos!

    • @unplantparenthood
      @unplantparenthood  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh my gosh thank you for sharing that with me and I’m so happy to hear you’ve found solace in houseplants! It has been a saving grace for me and my anxiety which crippled me severely over the last almost 2 years.
      Queens can be tricky and sometimes it takes losing all the leaves to get them happy, but once they get going they really don’t stop! Please feel free to send me a message anytime if I can be of any help!

    Boiling sphagnum moss to disinfect and clean it is one of the worst things you can do to it. Since it is organic its the fastest way to make it start decomposing. But maybe thats what you want, idk.

    • @unplantparenthood
      @unplantparenthood  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re definitely right! I just find with boiling it I’ve been able to get at least one or two more uses out of it before it becomes bedding for my greenhouses, topping for my soil plants or moss poles or something. But I’ll be doing a part 2 soon where I talk more about that process and show moss that has decomposed a few months after a boiling and how I reuse it. Thank you for bringing that up though!

    • @unplantparenthood
      @unplantparenthood  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alexandria! I know I replied to another one of your comments but I can't seem to find it now! But just in case you didn't see it, I get my big plastic clear pots from my local nurseries in the orchid supply section. And for the glass vessels, I usually get them at thrift stores! Ikea also carries some but they're a bit overpriced in my opinion!

    @calypsoul_life 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    i am so glad i discovered your channel! 👍🏾✨👍🏾. excellent content, amazing hostess and, of course, pudge!!!! 🥰🤗 I’ve binge watched every video and checking out IG. what is your process/products to deal with pests?? is there one substrate better than others to mitigate pests? discovered thrips on my monstera this morning. in the process of inspecting and spraying almost 100 plants.😢😢

    • @unplantparenthood
      @unplantparenthood  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw, thank you for watching and for your kind words!! I definitely plan to do a future video on pests because those dang things have been plaguing me for years. And I'm so sorry to hear you have thrips!! Those are the worst of them all. I actually have a highlight saved on my IG about thrips if you wanted to check that out! Also, if you can get Doktor Doom thrips killer or Captain Jacks Dead Bug Spray those are the most effective against thrips! And if you're open to predatory bugs, swirski mites and green lacewing are great for managing thrips larvae. Otherwise, keep those plants isolated for now and give it regular wipe downs/showers!
