It’s funny how there’s a good amount of discs that you mentioned that I currently bag! I’ve been playing for about 2 years and and currently bagging the buzzz, paradox, essence, signal and hatchet. And at one point was bagging the underworld, avenger SS and the diamond. They once flew straight for me and now are my go too hyzer flip disc or roller discs. Love the vids!

The Fuse! Bought it as an understable mid range that I could get to go straight when I fist built a bag. As I've grown I've acquired other discs but the fuse is a staple that won't leave my bag. Tall panning hyzers, flip ups, slow to fast working turn overs, fore hand or back hand I love this disc.

      @GingaNinja89 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Fuse is so crucial. Out of the box turnovers and easy anhyzers. I actually found that the swan felt just like the fuse except in putter form so between those 2 under stable is locked down!

If you're willing to spend the money to get one, JohnE McCray's 2020 tour series disc is the ultimate iteration of the fuse. The opto-x chameleon moonshine plastic is perfect. Same with the 2020 Kristin Tattar tour series pure, it's a putter fuse.

Anything with a -3 or -4 turn number. As an older player with a slower arm, I use a Pearl, Diamond, Paradox, and Underworld. All highly understable, but all go slightly to the right or dead straight. For people with more arm speed, those discs make for great hyzer-flip discs, or for touch anhyzers.

    • @trevorrehurek3391

I've had three people impressed with the Diamond. I prefer Latitude 64's Opto plastic, but choose whatever you like. Another midrange I'd recommend is Latitude 64 Compass. It holds well with the wind. It keeps a straight reliable line and gives a nice light fade. The fade is a 1 and is consistent to help with your approach.
Recently, I've bagged an MVP Volt and recommend it for when you need to approach and have a bigger fade or further distance.

Thanks Robbie for all the great content. As a beginner disc golf player being introduced to the game via my grandkids, I have been through a lot of discs building my bag, many that you mentioned. I didn’t have success until I discovered the importance of lightweight and ultralight discs. I had a breakthrough in my game discovering “Dino” discs from Infinite Discs. Flipping them over and seeing ABC and Gateway as their manufacturer lead me to finding discs from 110 to 130 range with discs that can be understable to neutral to overstable. I’ve since started recommending Gateway starter pack lightweights of Spear, Element and Wizard. My peers and I are not hoping to get stronger with more arm speed in the next 5 years, but rather hoping to be physically able to walk the courses in 5 years. These lightweight discs are the best for senior beginners.

As a new player I worked with the local tournament director and he recommended the Lucid Maverick, a fairway driver that has opened up a lot of distance and some hyzer flips for me. Got a DX Valkyrie as my first driver and it taught me to throw wonderful s-curves really fast. It gave me enough frustration at first but rewarded me with 300' drivers after a couple of weeks.
Now it's super beat it and a perfect roller disc that I can throw flat out of my hand and will turn over all the way.
A Vroc for super straight flights from the start.
A Kastaplast Falk, perfect Fairway Driver to grow into, slightly straighter than a Valkyrie and glides forever.
A Innova Nova for putting and learning how to throw. It has a lot of glide and will not forgive bad releases. It really pushed me to get more spin into my throws, if you're ambitious, it's the perfect practice disc.

Latitude 64 Pure for throwing putter. It is shallower for the smaller hand players as well. Just stick to base plastics (their zero line) and it will be easier to throw at first. Innova Valkyrie, It was the first disc I ever bought, at first I hated it because I couldn't throw it well but once I started getting better and into now even it's my favorite disc. I have to admit that I was very skeptical about buying a Pig. I avoided it for almost 2 years. I tried 3-4 other overstable putters. I finally decided to give the R-Pro Pig a chance. In 3 weeks, it has become my "Precious Child" 😁. I now use it for almost everything, except actually putting, from 250' and in to the basket. The R-Pro plastic is grippy thus making ground play very consistent, ONE skip, that is all...nothing else. The rim is very thick and fits my hands perfectly. The rounded outer edge makes it great for my favorite escape shot, the forehand roller.

Great recs! The origin is probably the touchiest midrange I've ever tried. It seemed to turn too much when I didn't want it too and was always turning in a different part of its flight for me. Probably a great beginner disc but would much rather have the dependability of a buzzz!

  • @adamgrigsby3744

I’ll definitely say for beginners, the trilogy line up has everything you’re looking for! I’ll also say, if the bounty doesn’t feel quite right in your hand, try the tursas! It’s a great compliment to the bounty that feels a bit different. And as you grow you could even bag both! I’d also say, if the paradox feels a little too big in your hands and want a smaller profile, try a Kon Tiki by infinite! This is my number one recommendation for beginners because you can find them in cheaper plastics and it’s just so comfortable in the hand! For a putter option I’d definitely suggest the Pure! It’s a great slightly understable option like the proxy with a different feel in hand :)

Good video...funny thing is that I bought an Innova Eagle a couple of months in...after I bought the Mako 3. The Eagle is a decent first headwind driver....and if you have to play in the wind. A Roc 3 is a great midrange as well..again for wind. I need to recommend some Latitude 64...they are my favorite company. For a beginner...I really like the Keystone as a putter. Great glide and you can throw on any line. Midrange I really like the Latitude 64 Fuse. Lots of glide and slightly understable. For a fairway driver a good grow into disc would be the River. Both have been giving me decent distance and control. I like them in neutron and fission plastic. Try them out! Thank you Robbie for helping me learn the game!

Westside Hatchet, along with the Innova Roadrunner as some of my beginner disc, as you have already detailed the Heat. Some other disc that I think get overlooked because they are in an actual starter kit is the Escape and Truth but in better plastics.
I'm kinda surprised that the Leopard3 didn't make your list....hhuumm.
Oh well, you did cover some great alternatives that consider some looking into and I thank you for that.❤❤
Maybe you can help me out with finding out about a disc I have that doesn't have a model stamp, all I know is that it is a 11,5,-3,1 made by innova.
As a new disc golfer, you have helped.
    Keep them videos coming.

I wasn't a fan of my starter pack Aviar so I tried out the DD Warden in classic plastic for my putter. As a former ultimate player, I love how the warden feels so close to an ultimate disc and has just a 0.5 fade. I use classic for putting and classic blend for throwing.

I've been playing disc for about 20 years and I've learned to set ego aside when choosing discs. After nearly quitting the sport after unsuccessfully throwing high speed discs with uncomfortably wide rims, I switched to "beginner" discs and am much happier with my play. I like understable discs and appreciate lower weights too. Can't have enough Star Mambas. Those things are my go to, but I look forward to trying a lot of these in the video, including, yes, a Pig (preferred plastic on that one?).

MVP Signal, Lat 64 Diamond, Axiom Virus, Westside Undertaker (I already know and live this disc) and a Lat 64 Sapphire. Also picked up first Deputy. Felt good in hand. Excited to get to field and throw! Pig is next round-i spaced.

It doesn't matter what other people throw, what matters is what works for you! I've been playing over 20 years and understand that although I've got years of playing time in the aging body can't do what it used to as well. So what, just means making some adjustments especially in driver weight and stability. My drivers are 150 class and understable. I don't throw anything over 9 speed. Distance is just one part of the game. Lowest score wins period😉

The first thing I bought was the innova 5 disc starter pack and while the destroyer is 12 speed it actually went further than the other discs right from the start. There was a brief period as I improved my form where the teebird and leopard went almost as far, however, it was really cool as a new player to have a disc that could reach 250 feet from the start. I think a lot of new players could be well served by a good distance driver. The other disc that was really special for me was the wizard. It was a big improvement for me personally as a new player learning to putt.

I just wanted to state that I have found a lot of love for the diamond, the saphire and the tern, and then to throw in a mid range my wolf is a fantastic approach disc. The Proxy is so great! Started bagging one a couple months ago and I can't imagine playing without one now, especially on wooded courses. Very workable, can throw long high hyzers, dead straight flip ups and slow turnovers and it flies as long as a lot of mids do for me. Definitely my favorite disc.

Heats were my favorite driver for a long time. Since getting somewhat better the Passion has taken over for similar lines. It's just a very long buzz for me. I still bag 2 heats though. 1 is super beat in for crazy woods needs, and the other is just a nice slow anny mover.
For reference for my disc reccs, my form still is a work in progress, max distance 370, average accurate drive is 315. I have an almost full discraft bag (still can't get me away from star wraiths), but my most used discs are passions, buzzz, wraiths, Lunas, and my new favorite is the new C line MD3. Once that beats in it just might make the buzzzes jealous. For reference on a flat line it's 200ft an in Luna, 190-240 buzzz/md3, 230-300 passion, 270-330 wraith. There is of course some overlap depending on course, elevation, woods, and just how the arm is feeling each round.
