I really don't like how people say the game is shit. I mean I too have problems with it's story and presentation, but it's not like the game is pure garbage. It's pretty damn fun, good graphics and fun gameplay. Just the story bits and pacing is not good.
Rewatching it now for the first time in years, the dialogue and writing is way more ridiculous than I first thought, but I still enjoyed the overall story more than the gameplay. It’s just bad compared to Super and the Prime games.
I'll state for the record now that I give this game a 6-7/10, so I still consider it a fun and decent experience. However, I finished both Normal and Hard playthroughs in the last few days, and so with fresh memory of it, I can think of several things. But, I will instead pinpoint the five biggest issues that I personally have with Other M: - Samus's weird obsession with "proving" herself to Adam Malkovich, despite being a warrior hardened through many battles with Zebesians/Pirates and Metroids by this point (which also makes her fear of Ridley a bit of nonsense) - only being allowed to act when Mr. Adam authorizes it, as if she would ever actually need or seek permission from a former C.O. she is far more capable than (she'd have dealt with this more quickly by utilizing all of her latent abilities from the start) - the story being far too ambitious, and is a mess as a result, with not nearly enough time to flesh out many plotpoints (getting to know Adam's platoon, learning more about The Deleter, what later became of Madeline, etc.) - "The Baby"; admittedly, I have not as much of an issue with this as other people, but I still found it odd that she would press how she would never get to see or interact with the baby again (never), as I don't think she had enough time with it to become nearly so attached - the control scheme being sub-par, being limited to only a sideways Wii Remote for 3D traversal, and mapping too many things to the same buttons
It must have been stressful to not only playthrough 9hours but also commenting almost the entire gameplay is unimaginable

Despite all the utter useless crap and terrible dialogue in this game, I did enjoy the hidden Phantoon fight. It was pretty challenging.
And to be fair, I did 100% this game once upon a time.
