    One of the few TRUE artists today. This is why I still believe in contemporary music. Vanessa is the reason I started playing piano, after I heard a thousand miles. Now it is my biggest passion and I am a classical pianist.

    Me too, i listen to this song all the days, and i'm not get tired of it. Her music is sincere, and i will never forget how her songs like "Hear the bells", "In the end", "Tall tales for spring", "San Francisco", "Home" or "Who's to say" have comfort me when i was ill or in doubt. I wish more success for her, because she deserves it.

    I absolutely adore her new sound. Rabbits on the Run pushed me into doing some much needed soul searching, and I'm a better person because of it. I can't wait for her new album. It makes me want to cry when people can't see the beauty and artistry of her new music.

      yea i totally agree with you... something about her new direction is just refreshing. i know she's a great songwriter and can make super catchy, popular songs if she wanted to but these new songs sound like she was able to be as free as she wanted to be
      its good to hear her not trying to put on a show for anyone
      i love this album

    This song is my favorite one from Rabbits On The Run, I'm so happy to see a music video in the same kind of passion. It's so dark and sweet, love how Vanessa can touch my heart with such a sweet voice and good music, but the most special thing is that her songs has meaning, it's not just a trash mixed with electronic beats to hit the number one. This is a sad time for music when true artist are not reconigzed and fake ones are in the Bilboard top 10

    looking at this music video from her 2 latest videos: Operator and House of Seven swords. You can tell that her darkest album was Rabbits on The Run. She wasn't married or had any kids in fact, she didn't even want to be married back in 2011 and she wrote a song called, I Dont Want To Be a Bride. It's different when you listen to Rabbits on The Run back in 2011 and then in 2018, because you can hear and see the change in her based on from Liberman. She's matured a lot now. I remember listening to ROTR back in 2012 and obsessing over it, but now it's different. You get a sense of uncanny and almost a worry for her around those years. It's such a dark album and I think now it's more obvious how dark and creepy ROTR really was.
    Liberman is a lot more peaceful and content than Rabbits on The Run. If you check out her website she explains that Liberman is more about loving humans and seeing the good in everyone. However on Rabbits on The Run, it's very different. She seems to have been through a darker time around 2009 - 2011 because it really shows in that album. Some songs were about her breakup with Stephan Jenkins and some other songs just sounded flat out creepy. I really love that about that album. It just sounds so creepy, haunting, and unsettling. It's by far her darkest album than all the others. I'm glad she has found peace within herself and she's finishing her new album. She's been posting videos on instagram about her new music. I'm excited.
    All in all, ROTR is dark as fuck. It's a whole new expereience listening to it now than back when it was released. Damn her life changed so much, it's beautiful. Love you vanessa.

    • @FloraNB
      @FloraNB 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand what you mean, but I don't think RotR was as exceptionally dark as you make it out to be (you apparently feel the need to call it "dark" about 6 times). Be Not Nobody and Harmonium had their dark moments as well, but I think RotR was the first time she really experimented with very different instrumentation and production, which makes it stand out in a different way. I remember thinking when Heroes & Thieves came out, that it was so much more mature than her first two records (which didn't make me immediately love it though, Harmonium was my jam back then) and then when RotR came out, it was an even bigger jump to maturity (and my love for it came much faster somehow). Anyway, I don't feel like Liberman is as big of a jump from RotR as RotR was from H&T, and Liberman still has its darker moments, both in instrumentation and lyrical content. Then again, I suppose it all depends on what you consider to be dark, and just how you interpret the lyrics, which is all subjective.
      As for the colours in the artwork, Rabbits on the Run is DEFINITELY the darkest album though.
      (PS: By now I think H&T is a masterpiece and I pretty much love all of her albums equally)

    • @dinauchiha3924
      @dinauchiha3924 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well she was going through POS health issues...And alot of other personal issues as well. But I love this album still to this day in 2022! Rabbits on the run is her best album and one of the best timeless albums ever created! 🙌 The Marching Line is my favorite but all 10 songs are my doses of healing 💯❤ There's beauty in embracing a dark side, cuz indeed not everybody has sunshine inside their heart as we age...I believe it does dim down but darkness is also the beauty to appreciate the little simple good things in life. I'm 23 now and experienced so much trauma...My dad's sudden passing in June of 2018 when I was only 19...and alcohol abuse and a toxic 3 year relationship. I'm still struggling today with finding peace in my head but this album is like a Bible to me. Every song is a masterpiece. Vanessa really killed it with this one. 👏

    I absolutely love Hear the Bells, it's one of my favourites from the album. The video is far from what i expected it to be but that's not a bad thing, not at all. It only proves that Vanessa can still truly surprise you in a good way even if you've been a fan for years and years. I'm certain I'll never get tired of Vanessa and her music. Absolutely beautiful! The use of symbolism, along with her haunting voice, make this song magic! The lyrics, along with her use of home videos to show the progression of her life, reflect each other on so many different levels. I will never cease to be amazed by the depth of her understanding of life, emotions, and her sheer talent!

    Vanessa Carlton is not only one of the best artisits in a very long time, but also a very real and truthful one. She may not be the top artist on the radio, but she has fans that will always follow her. She has been an inspiration for many, including myself. her music has gotten me through the worst times in my life, just like many others, and this video is the most recent in a long line of amazing videos and songs and lyrics that show clearly just how amazing she is.

    I cannot put into words how much awe I am in. Beautifully done. I'm glad she made a video for this song. I once had a dream about this song, or part of a dream about this song. I was waiting for my parents to finish shopping near the doors of a store (I think it was Wal-Mart) and suddenly, I'm in this forest that's filled with leafless trees. It's light and dark at the same time. And there were these shadow creatures. That's what I prominently remember of it, and it was inspired by this song.

  • @Taraum
    @Taraum 10 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Too all the people saying that this song is scary, I'm not going to say that you don't know what you're talking about, because everyone is different and has their own tastes. This song is meant to be reflective, which can make some people nervous and uneasy. The music and lyrics are supposed to work together to help people contemplate and mourn the things that they can't change or have lost. As much as we may hate to admit it, loss and death are parts of life. To deny them will achieve nothing but frustration. The job of a musician, of a songwriter, is to help people understand and express their emotions. The music of this song may come across as creepy, but it's that way for a reason. It's meant to evoke a sense of longing and sadness for the things we no longer have or the things we can't control. I believe the lyrics, which make references to gravestones, old brick walls, and the sea, are to remind us that there are larger forces to life than just humanity. I think it's there to remind us that things like death and time will eventually overtake us, just like the sea can drag a person out and under. The point is not to try avoiding them, I think this song is trying to say. I think it's trying to say that the point of life is to allow yourself to feel, to make peace with your past and surroundings so that you can enjoy the time that you do have and make a difference. I'm an unabashed Vanessa Carlton fan, and in my opinion she does her job very well. Her music isn't all about partying, drinking, and sleeping around. It's about relevant issues that affect a person's life. Some of her music does have dark themes, but life itself is filled with both darkness and light. I think that what she tries to do is help her fans express those darker emotions in a way that they can feel and understand them. Of that, she is a master. :)

    I love Vanessa's music, she's incredibly talented. I did not know she could go that high on chest voice until I listened to this song (she hits an A5 3:02, or so I found in the internet, when I looked for it, as I got impressed by such a high chest note when listening to this song for the first time). Hear The Bells is also a very magical song, and trully reflects what she meant when she said that it's like healing.

    What a wonderful song! Very catchy. The difficulty is going to be getting it out of my head so I can work on some of my own music. Excellent work! 💜

    I love the song and I'm really loving the music video. It's kind of a new style I like on Vanessa, the classic femme fatale hairstyle and makeup. It really matches the unique ethereal sound in her voice on this song.

    It's like seeking the solution to your problem: it's right there. I like the symbolism of the overlaps and transitions. People are blinded, and they misconstrue what they see when all along, their answers lie within.
