  • A few ham radio operators have had trouble getting started with the MINI60 SARK100 antenna analyzer. I thought the best way to help would be to creating a tutorial in English, since the user manual leaves much room for improvement.
in this video we go through:
    - Putting the MINI60 into Wireless link mode.
    - Pairing the Bluetooth antenna analyzer with your smartphone or tablet,
    - Adjusting the resonant frequency of a magloop while scanning SWR.
An antenna analyzer (also known as a noise bridge, RX bridge, SWR analyzer, or RF analyzer) is a device used for measuring the input impedance of antenna systems in radio electronics applications.
The most common manufacturers of antenna analyzers are MFJ (MFJ Enterprises Inc. MFJ-269), and Rig Expert. Unfortunately, both of these products are outside the reach of most newcomers to amateur radio becasue of their high cost. The Mini60 offers some functionality not found in the more expensive alternatives, such as wireless connectivity, real-time scanning, plotting SWR across the entire HF spectrum in realtime, ...

+wwhitby You are very welcome. It's not tge bedt meter, but swr scanning is great, and it comes in cheaper than alternatives.
Thanks for watching and for the kindness

wow cool piece of equipment!! ill have to look into on of these over my mfj... love your channel! you have a great "radio" voice for making vids, very crisp and clear... keep up the hard work making and uploading more vids!!

Thanks Nick. I wouldn't say this is a direct replacement for an mfj, but it is something I don't mind dropping off of the Tower 😀
The strength of the MFJ 269 is definitely the inclusion of VHF and UHF. The strength of this little unit is its small-size and wireless connectivity.
Thanks for watching and for the kindness I hope to get two new videos up in the coming week.

Hey Julian, brilliant video. Your presentation is super easy to understand. I had already arrived at a working installation, but it's great to confirm that everything is as it should be. My only issue with the device so far is that I cannot change the step settings on the device itself. Probably operator error! Cheers Mate, Steve.

+Tom Wright thanks for the kindness Tom. I'll try to keep them coming. The goal is one proper video each week, with extra "quick howto" videos randomly.

I do like the compact profile of the Sark Mini60. Thanks for sharing !

SurvivalComms thanks Brett actually I like it too. I especially like the price so the next time I drop an antenna analyzer from the tower it won't hurt so much 😀

This is awesome that you can adjust while this program is running can you give us details on what each color line represents in detail thanks.

Great video, and I agree, you have a genius youtube voice. I was wondering if the mini60 could be adapted to check resonant circuits. I like to build ratios from scratch and that would be a nice feature, you know like a dip meter..

Hi Julian, love the channel. Does the mini60 require calibration when it arrives or can I use out of the box

I'm in Thailand right now and can't get a Mini60s with BT, only USB version. Can I connect my Android phone via USB to the Mini60s and use the same APP ? If you have a chance, let me know.
I don't want to order BT less version and install BT module myself ...
Great instructional video, thanks for sharing this ..!!!

This is an old video but at least on mine, USB works as well. I just plug it into my Android phone or tablet with a usb OTG cable. You might want to ask the seller if that is still supported on the newest versions.

Well when people are telling you that they're not getting any help from the non-english-speaking sellers the least I can do is make it tutorial.
I can always publish the video I was supposed to publish, tomorrow or the next day.

Not sure if you are still looking at this...
    I just purchased a Mini60, set-up fine App working...
Maybe a quirk of the app.?? I cannot set a Frequency lower than 2.01 MHz

Hi Julian, Thanks for the great video. I received my Mini60, however it arrived uncalibrated. Do you have any insight into how to calibrate (especially for those of us who are solder challenged)? Do you know of anyone who offers premade calibrators? Many thanks!

Julian, I have a sark 100 with no Bluetooth. I can buy the Bluetooth module but how do I fit it? I cannot find any instructions. Tia.

Is the mini60s the same as mini60? I received a mini60s which came with battery and says bluetooth but I haven't confirmed bluetooth yet. Was just wondering the differences of both. Also for the app do i have to download .rar file also, Or just install .apk?

Do you have to use the app, just want to use it as an analog analyser?

    • @OH8STN
      @OH8STN  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all.
The swr meter works just like the MFJ without the app. The app is only there to provide a graphical view. Perhaps I can make a short video demonstrating that.

Cool but scan is too slow for tuning a loop. I would use my old MFJ and just watch the meter dip as I tune. Much faster and easier. Just not as cool...:*)
