  • I just got a TinySA Spectrum Analyzer. Let's figure it out together.

    Any spectrum analzyers has a few basic functions:
    * Set the FREQUENCY of interest
    * Set the boundaries or SPAN you want to see to the left or right of your desired frequency
    * Set the REFERENCE level that you want to visualize frequencies against
    * Set the RBW or Resolution Bandwidth for how many inspection points there are instead of the SPAN you're looking at.

      Nice, make sure to pipe up over on TOADs, we can learn together.

    According to the movie Prime Risk: Spectrum Analyzer - It reads the electromagnetic environment and produces magnitude readings for the frequencies involved.

    Good video, just got mine today, seems to check out and calibrate just fine. Now to chase down some RF hash around 13 mhz or so so I can start swling the HF Bands.

    Just ordered one because of this video from R&L.
    Watching the waveform from analyzing the FM broadcast band reminded me of the waves sent out by Gigantor's control box. Just picture Jimmy Sparks wiggling the controls at the low port and sending out that wave to control Gigantor. (Gotta be silly once in a while or things start getting too serious.)

    I'd love to see a demo on chasing down RFI with this tool. Every morning, when things are quiet on the bands, I see strong continuous signals that are about 75k apart. Quite strong on 20M.. These tools look quite capable..

      I would too... I'm very fortunate to live in a small rural town without any RFI.

    Still an excellent video, Steve! :-) It's remarkable how the tinySA and NanoVNA devices are democratising proper testing. My favourite part of this video: 2:52 - 2:57

      I leave the screen protector on for as long as it'll stay, but this one has to go.
      Ordered mine early this morning, expecting it tomorrow.

      I use a Malahit DSP2 with a Deshibo Ga800 loop. Have a tiny Belka too which is amazing. Still figuring out all the features on the Malahit. Going to be using the Tiny SA for things like highlighting transmissions on Airband etc.
      Still trying to figure out how, if possible, to set a low and high frequency on the Malahit DSP2 to do the same thing. The Tiny SA will do it in the interim. Any tips greatly appreciated 😊

      I haven't played with a Malahit yet, but when I do, there will be some videos on it, for sure!

    Do you think it is possible, to check the frequency of an operating HF-coil, to get another one into resonance with it?

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I can see how you could compare the two coils and make adjustments using this as a measuring device.

    You can test a BFO you just built for an old radio that has a fake bfo like the hallicrafters or none at all. Just in case it has similar signals or harmonics when the tuning cap is changed.

      I want to do that one day. I'll remember your comment when I get to that project.

    I am confident in saying, "I think one of the cables would reach between the two ports." Ron W4BIN

  • @DennisSantos

    Why use the two leads with the gender connector when you can just connect one lead between the high and low ports?

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the type of test you are running. In this case, I wanted to equalize out the cable length. If you were only going to test one device on one port, the a one-wire calibration would be good.

    So if I hooked up a 4watt boafeng to the tinysa I would need a 36 dB attenuator

    Can the device pick up the frequency of 5 kHz?🎉

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      two inputs, high quality MF/HF/VHF input for 0.1MHZ-350MHz, lesser quality UHF input for 240MHz-960MHz - looks like it doesn't go that low.
