My Dream Gold Claim, a Nightmare? (Gold panning new claim, Part 2)

- Nope it is still a Dream! Although after two days searching for the good gold deposit, we came up almost empty handed. Or close to it. We had 5 people gold panning this second day on the placer claim and other than a few small pieces of gold came up empty handed.Though the scenery here is unbelievably beautiful! And we will still find the good gold deposit, might just take some time.

Dan, teach your friends how to properly carry their shovels. Hold it right behind the blade horizontally with the blade pointing down & on the downhill side of your body. 99% of the time anyone who falls crossing a steep grade will fall to the uphill side & that's why you carry any sharp tools on the downhill side of your body, so that you don't fall on them. That's one of the first things we were taught in forestry. Good luck & be safe.

Hey Dan, Thanks for showing the close up of the gold and explaining about the iron and the brighter color possibly having more silver in it. I would love to learn more about the different colors of gold and what they mean. Also I loved the ending song to this video and lastly, maybe you could name this amazing claim, that which you have already called it, The AMAZING CLAIM!!! The fisherman in me sees some spots for a good shore lunch of fresh fish, an alternative for when the panning is slow. A beautiful spot, thanks for sharing.

When looking to buy a gold claim be highly suspect of overwhelming paperwork that says it's a bonanza !!!
The chinese would have stayed a long time if the gold was really good. The source must be near, I'd mineral claim it perhaps ?

I've seen many prospectors swindled out of there life savings with the fraudulent paperwork filed for years !

You’re not being swindled if you do your prospecting correctly and make a decision based on results. Only fools buy claims based purely on sight of Big Nuggets or fancy paperwork. Rick Ness of Gold Rush was somewhat burned doing that. Should’ve believed his Test Dig results rather than the tinful of monster nuggets he was shown by Claim Owners.

It's there Dan. I'm sure you just need to find where it is hiding. I'm thinking since the gold is coarse and there is so much quartz in the stone and gravels, the gold may be in the decaying hillsides that are throwing the boulders your way. Some day it may be worth it to bring down your high banking setup and try it out. You did say there was a big hole on top near those squatters that you could use as a tailings pond.
The river was stunning. The colours were beautiful. I’ve noticed that all the rivers you go to are incredibly fast flowing & so clear. The scenery in BC looks absolutely lovely.
I’d like to see the fish out of that creek too. Love your views and adventures

i found a lot of gold in the clay layers. Colorado placer gold. This gravel is so yummy! need multiple classifiers to help break the clay down. It has all the ingredients for gold! Try out that clay layer!

Living in Southern Illinois we have the Big Muddy River and the Little Muddy which is exactly what they are. The visibility in the water is only a couple inches. We have nothing but dirt, unless its raining then its mud. Mud creeks, mud streams, mud rivers. I would absolutely love to have access to such a beautiful river. That's why every time I go anywhere I'm always bringing back rocks. Also the only gold we have is black gold (coal)

A small hibachi and a line out while you are fishing could lend itself to a tasty lunch. Also a nice spot to spend the night camping out.

Reminds me of my claim where if you sample looking for fine gold as a test you won't find much but dig down to bedrock and little pickers fill the cracks :)

Any fish in that stream? My idea of a perfect day: Set up camp, cook some fresh-caught fish in a skillet over a camp fire, brew up a pot of coffee, then pan for gold. Used to do that 40 years ago on the Chena River outside Fairbanks, AK. Doesn't get any better!
