Absolutely....the best read story I have heard in the last few months. Funny, interestng, great voices and not too short..not too long. So nice to find something other than crime stories. I look forward to more of your stories! Thank you so much!
My son loves this and we often listen to it on longer car journeys. Thank you for narrating it - he laughs every time the hitchhiker shows the driver all the items he’s taken off him.
Lol; that was awesome, I loved it!! …Was waiting for a nasty-ending, and am charmed that it ended the way that it did. Leave it to RD to create such delightful characters, and such an interesting set of circumstances!! (As the Main Character in the story was a Writer, I wonder if this was loosely-inspired by somthing in his own experience - or if he thought it up, perhaps during a long-drive somewhere? Dahl is such a natural storyteller, I imagine that he frequently passed the time by telling himself stories inspired by who/what he encountered and observed. …(I sure would have, we’re I He!!!)
I loved every second of it! You have a wonderful talent and a good taste in books! Please read more Roald Dahl. He has other short stories that are terrific.
@@Trickynickymarts I've already listened to them all and a couple of ones with Bertie and Jeeves...I'm always amazed by their wonderful witty humor :)) and you bring out the characters so nicely. I'm a big fan of Roald Dahl. I had a really great book with all his short stories. Keep up the reading and I'm sure the channel will grow. :)
I clicked this story on as background while I did other housework chores. By the end of the story I had NOT gotten one single thing done. And It finally dawned on me that you, Trickynicky, you ARE the narrator. The splendid narrator. YOURS is the voice I would listen to if you were narrating the tax code.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant! Your work is fabulous! I have listened to many audiobooks (usually through Audible or amazon) but ever since I listened to you on youtube, I find myself comparing them to you and wishing you narrate them too. I’m sure you get this a lot already but I just have to say, you have a fine gift of narration. Yours is unparalleled work. With the emotions you put into the work, your voice variation, silky smooth accent, the slight voice falters (yes i notice!), immaculate editing, and overall engaging tone, you bring out the magical recipe carefully woven and hidden in between the lines by the writer. Roald Dahl would be greatly pleased if he were still alive to hear it i’m sure. Please continue to publish works of this genre. I would love to hear you narrate “the wonderful story of henry sugar” same author some time. It’s an old family favorite; i would love to introduce the new narration to them and hear you bring the story to life again! I would even go so far as to suggest the Sherlock Holmes series.. those have exciting twists and turns and interesting characters that will be a perfect match with your voice and style. Thank you sir! Hope this comment finds you well!
I admit I did not get hooked in the first three minutes, but soon I was and by the end I laughed out loud so hard. Dahl's story with your reading, so good!
incredible story. love how he almost makes you turn against the hitchhiker once he gets the speeding ticket... but keeping the faith and friendliness with the hitchhiker reveals the reward of no ticket to the driver... I was ready to kick the hitchhiker out, glad I didn't lol

The start of the story about how the already packed car is often the one that picks people up ... this made me think of an old man from years ago who picked me up. His kid was in the car and a farm goat and bales of hay. And the car was on its last legs. We had a great chat and time. ''Twas Great.
