Right. This makes it seem like they weren't emphasizing their next steps were to use the money to go direct to consumer though. It sounded like they were open to it but it wasn't their plan coming in.
They turned down a really good deal. They were just thinking of the initial investment. They weren't thinking about just how much Kevin could make their business grow.

she actually had a good point this time. Which was that it hasn't had any sales yet. Not only that but we don't know how the consumers feel about it. Perfectly fair reasoning there
This was a flat out mistake. I would take a shark over a random VC anyday. What they don't seem to realise is that in order for this business to scale and start making a return they are gonna have to raise a whole lot more capital. 1 Kevin is better than a room full of private VC's. I'm sure that in a year 25% won't look so bad after all.
I'm a gym owner and fitness trainer and I wouldn't waste my time with this. This product is just one more thing to keep track of, to charge, update, download, upload, and distract you in the gym. It can only be used on machines that use a pin for the weight, you'd have to stop and change the exercise on the app so the pin knows, and different brands of machines have different ideas of what a real weight is.
Should definitely be a consumer product and version for soley counting reps for $59.99. Feel like a lot of people will not care about the data analytics to pay $200 especially if you’re already an Apple Watch user. Now if they marketed with a focus of something along the lines of “allow the metric mate to count the reps for you so you can focus on making the reps count,” and you could analyze the reps data after a workout and assess where you can adjust your weight on exercises to hit your desired rep range. Now that would be something I could see a lot of gymgoers willing to pay for
I would use this 💯 but not sure how it would work with plated equipment or free weights. I’d love to know was this a smart decision or the case of to many decisions makers in the founding team? I would of took it, better to scale fast. Regardless if there is a pattern in place everyone always gets around patterns they could’ve gone to market fast. Fingers crossed it works out for the trio. Good luck hopefully one day I can try it for myself. 👌🏽
For plated workouts I can see them develop a model that has the rod removable and you’re able to add a strap or some type of sticky silicone that can help it stay on KGs
why would a personal trainer need this? They are trained to know the information this device is giving out, wouldn't it just cause personal trainers that are underqualified to have a means to scam people? im a semi regular gym goer but ive never gotten a personal trainer so its a honest question
I get it that consumers want it more, but you kinda need the gyms to approve of its use. After all, altering gym equipment is risky and can cause death and injuries. The device may not be compatible with all equipment. Honestly, they are better off doing a SaaS business for fitness trainers and gyms. They should partner with gym equipment manufacturers so that their technology can be integrated with the equipment safely, and that also provides a channel for global expansion. Secondly, that was such a low ball offer. They have a patent, 2 engineers and a lawyer. They can easily get 100k. And they didn't even need the manufacturing support provided. Well, they probably cut the video so much that a lot of information was lost to make the participants seem ignorant.
