Me too! For me she is the best skater of all times! No one makes me feel the skating and the music like she does! Her artistry and felxibility, unmatchable! ❤️❤️❤️
she is beautiful inside and out...true talent that came from hard work and inspiration. she is a good role model for anyon who is looking to achieve any sort of dream. Breath taking
She was such a beautiful and artistic skater. But jumps and consistency were always a weakness, particularly in long programs. I wish she had tried ice dance in competition after 2006...I think she would have been spectacular!
Being strong-willed, she probably wanted to be on her own. However, looking back at the missed Olympic "gold", I really wished she had chosen the "pair" path.
An exquisitely beautiful skater,,,, one of the best to never win the World or Olympic title.,,,,and one of the most memorable. Anyone putting her down doesn’t know skating, beauty or talent.
Problem was she came back as the same Sasha who couldn't maintain her focus. she should have spent those years out of eligible skating with a sports psychologist and come back in the grand prix series and at pre-season events such as Campbells, if it still exists, not at US nationals. However, she would have only been as high as silver at the Olympics, even though Cohen is a superior skater the judges will always have " you had had your turn" mentality or a 'wait your turn' mentality. The former would have cost Cohen the gold as it did with Plushenko.
vistaprime Plushy won gold in 06 same Olympics where Sasha was gifted silver... all the boss skaters used to skip the grand prix when they got to the lvl Sasha was at
I don't think what you said is applicable to my comment. I am talking about her comeback Plushy in 06 had nothing to do with Cohen and he wasn't on a comeback until 2010.
it sure did in 2010 when he actually came back and lost to a quad- less Evan to much controversy and still people still feel plushy won including a host of other skaters and commentators. his turn was 2006.
vistaprime What, Sasha Cohen the superior skater? I'm sorry, but you are divorced from reality. In 2010, Yuna Kim with her huge 3Lz-3T (on the correct outside edge), Mao Asada with her 3As. Sasha Cohen even if clean would be 20 points behind those two.
She had lost a lot of weight at that time. You can feel that she didn’t lose her magical touch on the ice. She just needed working out more seriously. She will never forgotten
It wasn’t that she did not work seriously. She could not compete all season due to her injury (tendinitis in the right calf). We were lucky we even got to see her come back to the nationals since she very much could have withdrawn from it. I’m sure she gave out everything she possibly physically could.
@@hirokiguapisimo I agree 100%! So tired of people passing judgment on someone because of their weight. No one knows what was going on, nor should anyone assume..Sasha is a living legend.
I'm curious as to how they graded this program. Her only remotely clean triples where Salchows. But, no combination on either. She used double toe loops in combination with the opening Lutz and Flip, so did she intend to NOT put the Salchow in combination? Adding a 3rd 2TL would have been overrepeating that jump, disqualifying it anyway if she'd used it. Was the Lutz supposed to be a 3/3, which explains the absence of the 3 Toe? Did she not get credit for the second Salchow? I don't see how she could have.
The limit on double jumps in the long program didn't take effect until the 2014-2015 season, I believe, so Sasha could have tacked on a 2toe to one of her salchow attempts with no penalty.
@@ronaround74 I think what the commenter was saying is that there were two triple salchows in this program, but neither was in combination. It is against the rules to perform two of the same triple or quadruple jump unless at least one is in combination. This has been in effect since the 80’s.
Really horrible understanding of the new rules by the commentators, to say that it is up to the judges' discretion to deduct points from visible mistakes is damning to the legitimacy of the sport of figure skating.
I know its a bit late, but could she have chosen Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini? instead of Moonlight Sonata? Maybe it would have been a perfect vehicle for her artistic skating. Oh, would have it been spellbinding?
Before Michelle kwan retired, Sasha skated under Michelle's shadow. Before Irina retired, Sasha skated under Irina's shadow. Before Shizuka retired, Sasha skated under Shizuka's shadow. Sasha always too nervous to be a winner.
She is the best skater. The only reason I loved watching. I stopped watching after her. Yes, she fell a lot but her grace, flexibility, artistry is second to none. I tried to get back into ice skating but it just wasn’t the same vibe. Can’t believe I was obsessed for some time lol.
Mitch Grube Cohen has shallower edges, much weaker jumps, narrower range of expression, and most important of all, a much much poorer competitor. Acrobatic extension does not make you a better skater.
Yea story of her career. Never could pull out a long skate w/o a fall or three. Very bad jumper. The wobbly feet and bad jumps 100 percent takes away from any artistry.
gorgeous... she is still my favorite of all time. I would rather watch her than anybody else. I'll take the mistakes, just to see the artistry
HONESTLY

@studyhardplayhard5086 She was most certainly a great skater. Just not a great competitor.
This was my favorite long program from her and so beautiful and sophisticated.
She should have partnered with a male skater as "pairs" or "ice dancers". That path would have taken her to "gold".
Hien Tran I was thinking the same thing. She would have been a phenomenal ice dancer.

Always so beautiful
Did I see this right? She two footed FOUR jumps!??
Very thin here ; seems nervous too. I always enjoyed her skating, seems like she wanted one more shot at Olympics. That's how it goes.
She looks emaciated here 🥺
Soooooo thin here😳
We don’t see spirals anymore 😭
She moves so beautifully on ice, too bad for the jumps
I want her talent I have been skating since I was 9 I'm 12 now I don't have any one you tube but she's amazing I wish I had her talent
i wonder when will we see someone skate like her again

That took major balls for her to do that... great figure skater
Uno de mis trajes favoritos! Bella!
Love her!!!
Those tangled up legs and feet and toe picks and blades are very scary to see! She's still one of my fave skaters ever.

The mistake alot of these athletes make is trying to come back after taking off 3 or 4 years. It almost always never works. Ask swimmef Ian Thorpe

In 1994 Gordeeva and Grinkov skated to Moonlight Sonata and won the Olympic gold.
Her head looks huge in that costume.
