In the Greek Orthodox Church, we still call the altar in the church as Αγία Τράπεζα (The Holy Table) and to a Greek Christian, the fact that there was a table there, dedicated from a Christian woman in memory of Jesus Christ God, means that the space was used for worship. It was the equivalent of a modern orthodox Christian church
Pastor Jonathan, I always find your videos informative and enjoy your presentation style of apologetics. However, I don’t recall ever getting misty eyed while looking at an archaeological exhibit before today. Thank you for bringing this blessing to us. Jesus Christ is God Almighty 🙏. Isaiah 53..Isaiah 9:6. There are countless scriptures mentioned in both old and new testament regarding Jesus Christ being God. Never forget, He is coming back again to judge the dead and the living, only God will judge. Thank you for sharing and I will forever love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ❤
My California license plate in the early 1980s was IKTHOOS. I asked the lady at the DMV if I could get JCISGOD as a personalized plate. She said, "well that's pretty arrogant, isn't it?" At first, I was taken aback. Then I realized that she thought my initials were JC. I said, "no not for me, JC is for Jesus Christ." "Oh. Well, it's not available. " So, I went with IKTHOOS.
Well... Should it be a surprise to anybody who's read the New Testament, that early Christians worshipped Jesus as God? For instance, what apostle Paul says in Philippians 2:5-11, is a Christian creed from as early as between 52 AD and 62 AD. The consensus among modern scholars is, that Paul was the first to give a written form to the core of the early church's teaching about Jesus. Of course it's a good thing that archeology supports, what we read from the Bible. But actual faith needs no other evidence than that of the Word of God. Let us keep in mind what Jesus said to Thomas: "Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29).
All those who tried to break Christianity has been put to shame Jesus Christ is the owner of the church and as He said He will build His church No one can break His body and bride
Let the leftists, wokes and God denying anti christianity army cry hoarse that Jesus Christ is not God but an invention of a deity by mankind. God shows He is the Master and Creator of us and the whole universe
It still is a symbol of death -- I'm looking to the tomb. It's empty! The tomb is empty! Is there somewhere with all the inscriptions and the translations?
What's interesting to me is we hear so many people who want names like "Jehovah" or "Yaweh" in the Bible, but I've never heard anyone argue to restore the nomina sacra, which is an actual lost Christian practice.
@@pastorburris Oh, that wasn't what I meant. I was reflecting on different approaches to historical restorations of God's name and I am surprised that there hasn't been a movement or translation which restores the nomina sacra.
The Antichrist teaching may have been formalised later, but its beginnings were much earlier. If Jesus is God, then he cannot be the Messiah, so which one is he?
It makes no sense you argument if you read from the dead see scroll library, the messiah is one messiah not two, and this messiah is cosmic and miraculous, it doesn't say he is G-d but is Cosmic, second, if you read the new testament you see this cosmic messiah and the Bible spans on this make him divine. Also is the poetical in the Bible, because the original king of Israel is G-d but G-d is replaced by a human king because people wanted a human king like other nations, also G-d promise a king forever from the house of David, Jesus the Christ (messiah) is the restoration of David House and also the restoration of the Kingship of G-d over the his kingdom. If you read the Bible and extra biblical sources is pretty clear that the messiahhood of Jesus is the solution to the unfinished tension of the old testament.
@ My point was clear, your response is not so clear. I can agree with most of what you have written but the Anointed of God is not God. Yehovah is the only God, the only creator, the only Eternal one. The scriptures make this clear, any teaching other than this betrays the gospel of Yeshua.
@@retepelyod I think you trapping yourself in a problematic view of history, there's no such thing as a linear history. My explanation is very well align on how early christian thought of Christ, there were looking for topologies in the old testament and they came with conclusions. Also you have to deny the apostleship of Paul because is clear in the Bible the apostle Paul thought of Jesus as G-d, that's the reason groups that denied the divinity of Christ have tried to water down Paul or accuse him of creating a new religion all together. But it's pretty clear that orthodox/Pauline christians believe Jesus to be G-d or Divine very early on even the Holy land itself.
@@retepelyod you're welcome, it is also a deep doubt I had years ago. And I don't deny that early on there were christian who thought of Jesus Christ as prophet and Jewish Messiah, some of them taught that Jesus was the biological son of Mary and Joseph, but Paul taught us about the divinity of Christ and as far as I know even though Paul was at odd for a long time with Peter because Peter taught to keep the Torah and Paul taught a completely different thing, we have evidence that they came along pretty well at the end, both of them recognized each other as apostle. The history of early Christianity is messy, but to put all in order we have to reconstruct what the apostles really teach us, therefore early on became of real importance apostolic succession to ensure that the teaching of correct and came forward from the real apostle to their disciples. Anyways I highly suggest you to do not agree with me so easily and go and try to read and investigate for yourself, I have been investigating this topic for 2 years now and still I have my doubts but every day I'm more inclined to think that Jesus was indeed G-d in the flesh
