- Just pour the egg on the tortilla and the result will be amazing! A new recipe that I really like. Recipe with no added salt or oil. Make a new breakfast recipe in 5 minutes.
Cook in a non-stick pan.
Do not smear with anything.
1 egg
150 g cheese
dip the tortilla in water
put in a dry pan
Just pour the egg on top of the tortilla
leave a little
add only 100 g of cheese
Fry for 3-5 minutes over medium / low heat, covered
tomatoes
use the egg that is left over
Basil leaves
pitted olives
20-30 g feta cheese
Use leftover cheese
Fry for 1-2 minutes
Mmmh .... the result is amazing!

I made this today and it was easy, delicious and a whole new way to use eggs and tortillas. The tortilla/egg is kind of crepe like.

If you do it in reverse and use two Eggs beaten then pour them in to a dry nonstick frying pan and place the tortilla on top. Fry for a couple of minutes and then flip and add any fillings you like....delicious! Simpler
keeping things a bit simpler Roo, try a cheese and onion sandwich ( no butter or marg ) using the tortilla and roll it up . job done and amazing !

What a wonderful find! I never knew that soaking the tortilla like this allowed the egg and cheese to absorb into the tortilla making it soft and almost fluffy! Fabulous recipe for using left over chicken and some grape tomatoes easy fast delicious = perfect. Thank you!
Skip soaking tortillas in water. Bathe directly in egg. Fry at Medium Low on both sides, add cheese to finished sides and flip to brown cheese. Any filling you wish. I used leftover chili.

The only step I don't do and learned from this video is dip the tortilla 1st in water, good tip in making it more pliable and won't crack in the process. Also coating one side with egg 1st great idea.. Thanks..

I really like the technique, but I’ll use different ingredients to make it more Mexican or Tex-Mex, e.g., pico de gallo, cheddar, maybe black beans or rice. Serve with lime wedges, sour cream, hot sauce, chopped cilantro.

This feels like a slow-motion version of ‘Tasty’ videos 😁… but! It’s worth all the watch from beginning to end. Looks yummy!
I just dice fillings (ham, bacon, onion, whatever) and add with eggs in pan. Scramble. Put on tortilla that already has the cheese on it. Shredded, chunked, sliced, doesn't matter (it melts all the same with the heat of the eggs). Fold and eat.
Less than 2 mins. Takes longer to get the stuff out of the fridge than cook.
Can fold and return to pan with a bit of olive oil for a fried crunchy if you prefer. Also a good time to baste with hot sauce here for those that like that morning heat 😁

I tried cooking this just an hour ago. It was a disaster. The first thing that happened was that the tortilla stuck to the (non-stick!) pan. I had to use oil and careful manipulation to unstick it. then, when I turned it over, the cheesy side stuck to the pan, and that wouldn't be budged. Meanwhile, the egg ran over the side and stuck to the pan separately. In the end the whole thing was a mess.

That egg is so over cooked this way. Pour the egg into the pan then pop the tortilla on top… flip as egg just cooked and then the egg is in the middle… add all other fillings and close and crisp up the tortilla at the end both sides…. Much better as egg still nutritious and not over cooked.

They are more watery as they get old. As long as it’s not a weird color or smells it should be fine
@@acer8405 there's always liquid in them - when they're fresh you have the yolk, the white (which is kinda like a clear jelly that forms that classic fried egg shape if you put an egg in a pan) and then some liquid. As they get a bit older, the white starts to break down and become more liquid, so if you put one of those in a pan it'll all flood out more instead of forming that shaped cushion under the yolk
Like that comment says, so long as they haven't gone bad you're ok (also check the safety recommendations for wherever you are!), but if you're making a fried egg or something, you might want to use a fresher one

Exactly. So many people in the comments just sniping at the pace of the video, or the ingredients used. It's an instructional for people that need/want instruction, and obviously you can use whatever ingredients you want. All these great home cooks patting themselves on the back for being faster, or already knowing how to make 'breakfast burritos' are missing the point.
A 5 star chef wouldn't do this ever. They would also never pour the tortilla in water first before cooking. The person making these videos doesn't know basics.

Great idea to wet a tortilla for this. It looks great plus could use whatever flavors you like.
These can be made in many ways besides breakfast wraps. I’ve made them for lunch & even for a light dinner, there’s so much more you can add to these wraps. I’ve sautéed onion, r/y/green peppers, garlic, after I add these to the wrap. I’ve added soft bacon bits, slice black olives & sprinkled mozzarella cheese over the all ingredients. I just flip mine in half. There is so many ways you can make these & they are “DELICIOUS “❗️👏use your own ideas & make them any way you want❗️👏
yes I was thinking instead of basil leaves since I hate basil that I would add some nice fresh spinach leaves. I think that would be so delicioso with the black olives and feta cheese along with some mozzarella cheese too. or maybe even some freshly grated Parmigiano cheeze. All sounds so yum along with some sautéed mushrooms and onions. oh my... yum 😋 I'm making myself hungry!

Cream cheese is not a good substitute for feta cheese, but if you want to replace the feta, a lot of soft sheep milk or goat milk cheeses will do the trick. My mom uses cottage cheese as a feta substitute in a pinch, but it really isn't the same.
If you really want to make this a Mexican style dish as we are using a tortilla, you can also swap out the Feta for a Mexican Queso Fresco/Queso Cotija which is similar to Feta, but less salty and can be crumbled while still holding moisture. The mozzarella cheese can also be swapped out for a Oaxaca style cheese since both melt (or if available a Chihuahua/Mennonite type cheese).
I just don’t see this as good. You sacrifice all of the crispness of the tortilla and add olives?? So sorry but it looks like a soggy mess.
I’ve been doing this trick since the first COVID SHUT DOWN. I’ve discovered a lot of uses for tortillas. They make excellent mini pizzas.

Looks very good, personally I would substitute sharp provolone for the feta, but only because I'm not a fan of feta ;-)
They probably were going for a Mediterranean dish vibe, using feta, tomatoes, and olives (my theory, anyway). Personally, I would prefer to not use olives but like feta.
If you don't mind crumbly cheeses, I would try a Mexican queso fresco/cotija. It is crumbly like a Feta, but unlike Feta the flavor is mild and less salty.
@@libertarians721 probably, but aside from the Feta those ingredients are also used in Mexican cooking (tomatoes are native to Mexico).
@@danmur2797 I love the suggestion! I was sequestered on a goat farm for a month long intense training course, and the smell of goat/sheep just... took me off of feta for good I'm afraid. But I love love LOVE blue cheese so crumbly is no problemo amigo.

I tried it for fun because I wanted to change up a boring tortilla we use for beef or chicken wrapped southern dishes. Sauteed onions, peppers, ham and whisked sour cream eggs poured onto bottom tortilla and covered with another tortilla and sprinkled with texmex variety cheese combo on melted on top. Don't forget the salsa.😀

Just made these. Flavor was good. I used what I had on hand. My husband loves egg tortillas. In the end this version was more work then how I normally make.

I'm chuckling at some saying "Only 100 g of cheese." That's ONE-QUARTER POUND of cheese. Without the egg and any other fillings, you have "Quesadilla."

Sounded delicious until the recipe went Mediterranean... I am thinking of using the opening technique and instead of the feta, basil, olive concoction, using left over fajita fillings with some chunky salsa and a dolop of either cream cheese or sour cream (depending on my mood that morning).

A ezier way is to put your eggs in a pan sprayed pan 1st ,then top it off with your tortilla ,cook on low & it fuses to the egg..flip once the egg is firm ,then add your other goodies like cheese, whatever etc on top of ur tortilla & roll it up like a burrito or how ever you want..can also just be folded in half , then brown the tortilla. its a Done deal. I make mine with green chilies & cheddar cheese & top with salsa & sourcream for myself. Cooked Bacon or sausage can also be used as a regular breakfast burrito.. these are great for camping..no mess in your skillet.
Next time that I’m deficient in salt, saturated fat and cholesterol, I’m making this dish.
