That's probably my favourite scene in Jam. It's so well written and acted, and it's wrong on just about every level. "I don't think I could afford that much again." Brilliant.
Not sure if anyone has ever said this but for me Jam always reminds me of that state of consciousness just before falling asleep, or REM. I think it is hard for someone to actually explain this state and how it feels but Jam comes very close to showing it. Just my own interpretation and i'm not saying my REM sleep is this dark every night haha. Maybe it's been said before but i've never seen it. Maybe Chris had the same idea? I think the doctors sketches in the way they are filmed resemble that type of dreaming.
I always thought they were trying to give us the feeling of what it's like to be sedated, or high on pot or something. The falling asleep feeling is close too.
I don't think it's by accident. The soundtrack and distorted effects give it an ethereal atmosphere, like you're in limbo between reality and nightmare, on the cusp of psychosis. It's the same kind of tension you get in horror films.

I'd like to see the final sketch expanded to a feature-length film, documenting her mental breakdown as her crimes get worse and worse, and trying with varying success to make friends with her victims. Of course she doesn't see them as victims; in her mind what she's doing is completely innocent, and the only way she knows of to meet people. She'd be a good anti-hero, one you can't help but feel a little sympathy for, no matter what terrible things she does to other people.

The scene at 8.30 in !!....They shouldn't get young children to perform horrible scenes like that !!!....My GOD. Have we all become so desensitized that we don't bat an eyelid ???....Adult surreal humour is adult humour......But don't involve KIDS in the production !....Unethical & immoral.
I'm amazed that Chris Morris was able to find a young girl willing to do the scene, and whose parents were willing to let her. I wonder how he pitched the scene to her parents.
Oh, get over it. Most kids know what death is and are aware that fiction is a thing separate to reality. In many ways they're actually like little people. And all the unnecessary caps in the world isn't going to change that. I should also point out that the visual style is an effect. The child didn't actually percieve it in that strange unsettling way. It's that and the music that make this truly unsettling The sketch isn't even that dark anyway. Other than a couple swear words there isn't anything much darker than Nolan's Batman and that film was marketed at 12 year olds. Quit being so soft and get off your high horse
The bored phone sex doctor is one of the best Chris Morris sketches ever, as well as my favourite.
Chris Morris should write and direct horror movies, they'd disturbing and terrifying.
Let's face it, this is practically horror masquerading as dark comedy.
