- Curtin University’s Dean of Global Futures Joe Siracusa says Duke University inviting Jerry Seinfeld to speak at a graduation ceremony was “bad optics”.
Dozens of students at Duke University in North Carolina have walked out of a commencement ceremony in protest of the guest speaker - comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
The comedian has been a vocal supporter of Israel since the October 7 attacks.
“It was a bad idea, they should have just withdrawn,” Mr Siracusa said.

About 30 humorless scolds walked out. Meanwhile Duke University posted the speech to its TH-cam website and more than 600,000 so far have watched Seinfeld's entire speech and loved it. I just sent the link to my college-age grandchildren. I think Duke came away looking pretty good!
