Thanks for the wonderful virtual reconstruction, which is shocking. No words, stories will not evoke even a fraction of a percent of the impressions that the image gives, and in 3D at that. I am delighted with these views, additionally synchronized with the real ruins. Super. Bravo!!!!
Well, this is your best recreation yet. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. And the details are amazing, including the shadows of statues and the ability to be able to see into the windows and see the reflections of light inside the building from the exterior. And this was just an amazing feat of architecture for the time. I even love your theory on the deconstruction. Bravo. 👏🏻
Another beautifully presented video - it's such an imposing building to visit, even now, in its ruined state. It's amazing to see the reconstruction and move around it - and the commentary was very interesting. Thank you! 🙂
Superb work thank you. You imagine as it was essentially used as a law court that the "side chapels" had seated individual adjudicating magistrates with a separate Higher status (probably imperially judged) court at one end; a presiding image of the Emperor as a focal point; and an awe inspiring central circulating space. As such its design is very like that of the 19th century Royal Courts of Justice in London - another imperial era Law Court.
Fantastico! Bellissima. Grazie mille. The replica huge statue of Constantine now on display at the Capitoline should be returned to it's proper place in situ in the Basilica of Maxentius. Where it belongs.
An incredible reconstruction of this magnificent building. Looking at the itinerary of Einsiedeln dating to c. 800, it's amazing that even then many of the old monuments were still standing. The Basilica of Maxentius, Temple of Venus and Roma, Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus (even with most of the roof gone), the Forum of Trajan...really puts to bed the notion that it was the Germanics who wrecked the ancient city. It was destroyed by nature (earthquakes, flooding that covered the buildings with mud)....and the Romans themselves for spolia lol.
A truly amazing beautiful and detailed reconstruction of the Basilica of Maxentius. Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful video, must have been haw inspiring visiting the basilica in antiquity like the Pantheon. 😍
GREAT video!! Been subbed for many years now. I absolutely LOVE how you have updated the realism!!. One note-regarding that Colossus of Constantine. Darius Aria's channel, Ancient Rome live!. has featured that statue. It's now been rebuilt with those existing fragments and 3D modeled and sculpted the lost parts and the clear distinction between the ancient and the new. It was awesome to see it rebuilt. I think it is actually going on tour I think. Check out Ancient Rome live! . But, again, congratulations on your work!! Love it!!. ❤😊
Wonderful work on this now still impressive ruin. We have been to Rome in August and I stood at the feet of what is left of the mighty Basilica. Keep Up the great work.
Your channel is incredible and inspirational! It would be amazing to one day see this kind of format, maybe with some expansions, in educational format. Would be a nice way of keeping students interested and help them experience history differently
Thank you so much for this amazing video! I always dreamt of seeing buildings as they once were when standing among old ruins. Videos like this a the closest as you can come to this. - Now I have to go back to Rome & watch these videos right before visiting these ancient sites again 🤩
I find that somehow, none of the Greco-Roman-inspired architectural styles from the Renaissance onwards really manage to capture the intricacy and majesty of the originals.
So amazing, this is probably as close as we can get to experiencing this building as it was. Do you happen to know how archaeologists were able to confirm the interior building painting patterns? Was it by chemical analysis or were there traces of pigment on the ruins as they’ve found in other buildings/ruinns? I’ve always been interested in how the insides of these public buildings appeared, especially when first hand accounts may not have been found, or directly mentioned their appearance.
On ne se rend pas compte du dispositif architectural de l'édifice, malgré les ruines. Cette basilique devait être colossale, revêtu de parement de marbres. Superbe. ❤
Excellent study and great visuals. I wonder though what the building was used for? If the giant statue of Constantine came from reused elements, which 2nd emperors were they?
I never got to visit the baths of Diocletian or Caracalla so far, but I must say that the whole building, especially the reconstructed interior, very much resembles Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. Both of them are late Roman imperial architecture, after all.
So sad almost everything disappeared...really amazed by the Romans. What kind of geniuses they were!! Cannot understand how all these magnificent buildings are totally gone. Almost nothing remains from the forum and in a large area around as well. This makes me mad!!
Quando è stato costruito i tuoi antenati europei vivevano nelle foreste e mangiavano qualsiasi animale gli passasse davanti. Cemento e vetro? Cos'è? Uno scherzo?

Mesmerizing...

Many books and sources)) Please check Instagram and Fb publics, I've posted about this several months ago.

If I could Time Travel I would go back to Rome at this time .... The Temple of Venus and Rome would one of the top temples I would want to see .
SUPER!❤🧡💛💚💙💗💜💗
Thank you!
What would they have put inside the building? Lots of open space
official meetings, courts etc.
Were the giant windows at the clere story at the roof filled with glass?
Glass/ivory.
are the columns made of red porfyd?

I think Constantine the Great would like to have a word about the Basilica of Maxentius...
why not)
Could you please put in proper subtitles in the future?
If you have never read the book "Quo Vadis" by Henryk Sienkiewicz, I highly recommend it. It gives a very authentic picture of Nero's Rome.

No one took care of them because they became useless.
I hope after we die we're given time to ghost around a bit to see all these marvels in their prime.
Would ne nice!
Rebuild it!
What was this building used for? Clearly not day-to-day functions of the empire. Just a meeting place for senators and other well-connected people?
Please, I also have some beautiful videos of Basilica. Thanks for sharing
Who clean rome public building in ancient time? Is there job for janitor?
Sic transit gloria mundi. I wonder if anyone will be left to explore the ruins our own civilization will leave behind?
Who knows))
A city like would stand snd exist still today. ..
some of the Roman buildings should be rebuilt for real
Please narrate in Italian with subtitles
I would prefer if they build this instead ot concrete and glass
