That R32 really was a weapon. It's 10 lengths clear half way through the first lap. Jeezusss.

that's because it's got way more horse power, may as well put a nasscar in there or a Indy car GT40 Le mans racer, let's see how it goes against that ,

@@351clevelandmodifiedmotor4 Its putting its power through all 4 wheels, that's the big reason it was faster. Would be been faster than a NASCAR round a road circuit. But why compare it to other classes anyway. It was the bees' knees for touring cars.

@@351clevelandmodifiedmotor4 The provision to build a 2.6L turbocharged vehicle with AWD was equally available to *every other manufacturer.* Holden could have made a destroker twin-turbo 3800 Buick dropped to 2.6L and put AWD on it and homologated it for Group A racing. 🙂 This is in stark contrast to the Nissan Cima and BMW 540i which were not even invited to compete in Group 3A despite being V8 rear wheel drive sedans... 🤨

The DTM spec BMWs had 'only' 380 HP, but with only 980 Kg no wonder they did so well

I know they did it to slow entry speeds into the hairpin in the name of safety and that's fine, but the new corners at the end of the back straight have done for Pukekohe what the Woodcote Chicane originally did for Silverstone when it was changed to a slow left-right chicane in 1987. It killed the flow of the circuit (now look at Silverstone.....it doesn't resemble anything of the fast, flowing race circuit it once was. Without being designed by Herman Tilke, they have turned it into a Tilkedrome clone with its hairpins and slow turns). I personally wish they had left Pukekohe as we see here.

It was necessary to do to bring V8 Supercars to the track. Otherwise, without a big event like that, the track could possibly be having it quite tough.
