As a man from Russia, I really surprised to see Aria in this list, but I also glad, that it gets some worldwide recognition, because I love them, especially incredible lyrics by Margarita Pushkina (even tho you can't understand them, language barrier after all). Liege Lord was the only one of these I was familiar with. Way underrated, and Master Control is indeed a masterpiece. I stumbled across it on cassette back in the day and picked it up based solely on the badass band logo, awesome album cover and cool-sounding song titles. I wasn't disappointed when I got home and popped it in the stereo.

Attick Demons were the only ones I hadn't heard before but I think they sounded the most like Maiden overall, especially the Brave New World into Dance of Death era
First time I ever heard Soldier Boy on metal massacre, I thought it sounded too much like maiden. Glad they changed up their style, as I love how technical they became.
Liege Lord had a different vocalist on their first 2 albums. Those are good too, but I'd say Master Control was their masterpiece when they got Joe Comeau on vocals and upped their songwriting even further.
How could you not include Barren Cross? They've been around about 40 years. Their singer, Mike Lee has a powerful voice full of emotion and nearly identical to Bruce. Not all of their songs are power metal, but much of their stuff fits the bill.
Totally agree. Mike Lee's vocals on the debut Barren Cross release were showing early indications of multiple octave ranges in upcoming works. They were a unique sounding band of 4.

Machine Men from Sweden and Destillery from Germany are two other bands that came to my mind. Nice to see Aria in the list, I own their whole discography and in the 90s and 2000s there are albums that sound even more like Maiden, hahaha.... Great video, thanx for that!

I've lived a long time, and I've heard a lot of music. Especially a lot of hard rock and heavy metal. Because I am hearing not only the Iron Maiden similarities, but also some other definite comparisons as well. Liege Lord, for example, struck me as sounding very much like a cross between Maiden and Exodus. I particularly noticed some Bonded by Blood sounds. Aria, as a few other viewers here have noted, blend a definite Iron Maiden sound with a bit of a nod to the Scorpions, as well. And the opening notes to the Icon of Sin track initially sounded very similar to the intro to Whitesnake's "Still of the Night '

Some of very first albums by Mercyful Fate, Manowar and Omen were inspired by Iron Maiden as well. Purple Sky by Lancer is a perfect example of Maiden earlier staff.
As a fan of Iron Maiden, I could take a liking to these bands. Liege Lord sounds interesting. I know Icon of Sin's Raphael Mendes; I have watched his videos of him doing Bruce Dickinson impressions and the "what if Iron Maiden" videos. He sounds so much like Bruce. Monument and Attick Demons might be something to get into.

Attick Demons and Aria both sounded very Iron Maiden. Obviously Aria's vocalist doesn't sound massively like Bruce, but instrumentally it's very Maiden. The other bands - at least the songs you played here - sound much more like Bruce's solo stuff, at least to me. They'd fit well on Accident of Birth or The Chemical Wedding

Can't agree more. Wether musically or vocally you gave great examples. I would add Brazilian power metal bands Sacred Sin and Pastore - Mario Pastore is hell of a heavy metal and opera singer and renowed professor of singing/coach with variety of ranges but very powetful Bruce vibe. One of the best singers on my list. Also Serbian band Centurion - very Maiden-ish, singer sounds like Bruce even singing in Serbian language. Joe Commeau on Liege Lord's Master Control had completelly Bruce pipes which in combination with US Power Metal gave special flavour.
Yeah. Thanks to Michael Kiske. And Helloween have even copied the guitar solo from Iron Maiden's "22 Acacia Avenue" to their own song "Keeper of the Seven Keys". It sounds exactly the same!
As a matter of fact, Liege Lord may altenatively be called either Judas Maiden or Iron Priest... ;) ... And I think I would vote for Attick Demons as most-alike.
I think a decent video idea in the future are bands that did the "heavy, soft interlude, heavy" structure before Master Of Puppets. There's more than you think. Powerslave (see it's on topic), Die Young, Victim Of Fate, How Many Tears, Male Supremacy, I'm sure you can think of a bunch more. Jim.
@@RuthlessMetalYT So you know how in Master Of Puppets, its thrash for a few minutes, then there's the quiet harmony part, then it gets heavy again? Well a lot of normies think that because its so famous, that's where that sort of thing started, whereas there are quite a few metal songs (and thrash songs) that did so before hand, some examples I listed above.
The Icon of Sin vocalist could fool a lot of people sight unseen. Probably the oddest soundalike I know of is Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost - doom and thrash have little in common but his clean vocals were Hetfield in a very dark place on those early albums.
Recently i have seen an unknown but really great French band who sounds like Maiden with the voice of R.J.D, i really like what they do. The band is Kingcrown

Not familiar with any of those, Icon of Sin & Attic Demons sound a lot like Maiden indeed. In the Death Metal universe I think Dismember would be my first choice, of course they play other style, but you can recognize some influence.
Liege Lord sounds more like early Helloween (Michael Kiske) Aria sounds quite a bit like Maiden Icon Of Sin sounds like a mix of Maiden and Priest, and Raphael Mendes does vocals for 2 Maiden tribute bands Monument sounds like a mix of Maiden and modern Helloween (Andi Deris) Attick Demons are the most Maiden sounding on this list, with a twist of Bruce’s solo material. Great stuff though.

Master Control is such a great album. Voicewise really Bruce Dickinsony, but the whole album is great Power Metal, with surely Maiden influences, but in the right amount, like every good or great heavy/power metal band from the '80s on.
Interesting topic! Another band that I think sounds like Maiden is the american band Barren Cross from the 80’s. The songs ”Two thousand years” and ”Killers of the unborn” are two examples. The singer sounds a lot like Bruce, and the arrangements smells Maiden.
Yeah-Barren Cross was the first one that came to mind for me. I have played them for my two teenage sons and the both agreed that Mike sounds like Bruce.

Damn - as a huge Iron Maiden fan, you made me order the Monument album, now. Wanted to get the Attick Demons one, too, but can't find it in the UK (yet, at least on Discogs).
You can argue a lot about who the most famous or most influential heavy metal band of all time is, be it Sabbath, be it Priest, be it Maiden, be it Metallica. But make no mistake, Bruce Dickinson is the most imitated of all heavy metal vocalists.
The Christian metal band Barren Cross gave me major Iron Maiden vibes back in the day, particularly the bass and the vocals.

I think a decent video idea in the future are bands that did the "heavy, soft interlude, heavy" structure before Master Of Puppets. There's more than you think. Powerslave (see it's on topic), Die Young, Victim Of Fate, How Many Tears, Male Supremacy, I'm sure you can think of a bunch more. Jim.

@@RuthlessMetalYT So you know how in Master Of Puppets, its thrash for a few minutes, then there's the quiet harmony part, then it gets heavy again? Well a lot of normies think that because its so famous, that's where that sort of thing started, whereas there are quite a few metal songs (and thrash songs) that did so before hand, some examples I listed above.

The Icon of Sin vocalist could fool a lot of people sight unseen. Probably the oddest soundalike I know of is Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost - doom and thrash have little in common but his clean vocals were Hetfield in a very dark place on those early albums.

Savage Grace are another band heavily inspired by Maiden, but keep it more their own thing. Still though, they sound massively like Di Anno era Maiden.

I was just listening to "Master of Disguise" and thought of this video.
Not familiar with any of those, Icon of Sin & Attic Demons sound a lot like Maiden indeed. In the Death Metal universe I think Dismember would be my first choice, of course they play other style, but you can recognize some influence.

I knew immediately that Attick Demons would be here, because they sound exactly like Iron Maiden! And I still remember a couple of weeks before Iron Maiden released their album The Book of Souls, someone had tricked thousands of Maiden fans and put out the Attick Demons song you have here on yt and said it was an Iron Maiden song from their upcoming album. And a lot of people fell for it. 🤣

I remember that, they also did this prank with Icon Of Sin songs here in Brazil, before Maiden released Senjutsu in 2021, a friend of mine really believed that it was Iron Maiden on that songs, I already knew Raphael Mendes' projects, so I told him that was a joke 😅

Master Control is such a great album. Voicewise really Bruce Dickinsony, but the whole album is great Power Metal, with surely Maiden influences, but in the right amount, like every good or great heavy/power metal band from the '80s on.

Interesting topic! Another band that I think sounds like Maiden is the american band Barren Cross from the 80’s. The songs ”Two thousand years” and ”Killers of the unborn” are two examples. The singer sounds a lot like Bruce, and the arrangements smells Maiden.
Yeah-Barren Cross was the first one that came to mind for me. I have played them for my two teenage sons and the both agreed that Mike sounds like Bruce.
