    I've had my RR2 for 6 weeks. I've only taken it on some test rides around my neighborhood. I put it on a car rack for a few days in anticipation of taking it out for a real ride. During that time it was exposed to some light rain. When I took it down for my ride it would not turn on. I noted some small droplets of condensation in the LED display unit. After some trouble getting in touch with customer support I was told to read the fine print of the warranty; "does not cover water damage". Rad wants me to order a new $60 display, even though the bike is new and only was exposed to light rain. Apparently their bikes are only to be used in places where it never rains. The bike's electronics are not sealed to resist moisture. If you are driving somewhere with your bike on a rack, and the clouds get dark, immediately seek a dry shelter to wait out any precipitation or it will kill your bike. I have a Blix ebike that has no issues with rain or moisture. They now offer a bike comparable to the RR2. I wish I had bought that bike.

    Great review! We just ordered a RadRunner 2 today after selling our Pedego Element. I love the price point ($200 off right now), simplicity, standard headlamp/brake light, utilitarian looks, upright seating position and battery range. They even have reflective strips on the tire sides.

    Had one over 2 years, it easily hits 24-25 miles per hour not fast but just fine i'm around 210lbs, range is pretty good, have the Rad upgrade display on it. There's a dealer locally but I cant comment on service as nothing goes wrong, its been out in rain and off road it just keeps going. The only comment is that it's fairly heavy so brakes need adjusting fairly frequently but it's easy to do. As the review says it's a great all round bike

      I had thought so as well, but good mechanicals are better when its really cold. I have a similar bike and the Mech brakes are a bit of a let down, but on my Pedego (now retired) I have mountain biking brakes, the Avid BB7's. They are crazy good, and have an ez adjust knob to boot.

    A radrunner plus is one of 2 e-bikes I have seen going down my street. I'm strongly considering a radrunner myself. One thing that interests me over other similar utility bikes is the amount of room between the fender (when installed) and the rack. I think I would eventually use that space for another battery to extend the range, or even run a second motor on the front hub to use the bike for deliveries as a side-hustle.

    Excellent review . I've been researching hundreds of ebike and this one really got my attention , The fact that it has limited electronics means less to go wrong.And the single speed simplifies things even more. And I've noticed most people have their cell phones connected to the Handlebars anyway.You didn't mention if it had a USB outlet that would be a shame since you would really need that option on this bike.One other thing that concerns me is on rad sight it says bikes could be delivered with other parts and brands then specified so you don't know what kind of off brand tires or whatever they choose to put on it, So that's scary🤔

    If we were ALL serious about getting rid of reliance on foreign crude oil, there's a solution that's already somewhat been put to the test that worked brilliantly in the US, but needs to be done on a larger scale, with more immediacy! "The First Test! Look around today! We started with money back incentives on hybrid and electric cars when they were finally ready, sales were slow(the cars were slow), but increased as the cars got better, we can skip that step, because what I'm talking about is already "better", we've at it for a decade, and we even race them! People were timid at first and needed encouragement, and it worked!...We see Tesla's and Prius', etc everywhere these days, that incentive WORKED! Now we have even more incentive, moving from reliance on Russian/foreign fuels, we CAN do this! at least to a degree that it massively changes how things are now, and turbocharges a movement that's ALREADY in motion! :D
    1- The incredible amount of electric 2 wheeled vehicles, scooters, bikes, etc has drastically increased, and the technology is everywhere! There are incredible examples out there! average price around $1700 (a little too much for people that are timid about the technology still, but they know it works.) The rides we're mainly talking about are the higher end models in the $3k range.
    2- ranges and speeds(from 20mph to 45mph) have been increased to the point where they can take the place of gas powered scooters, and small cycles. easily handling 20-70 mile round trips on a single charge.(depending on options weight, quality of bike, etc)..you can also plug them in while at work or wherever you;re heading, no special equipment needed(BIG PLUS!)
    3- prices range between $800(mostly for teens) to $3000(daily riders, and reliable) for very decent examples. Even if we were given a coupon or certificate for $2000 towards an E-bike, scooter, etc, we could probably make up the difference and buy a quality product easily.
    4- pathways need to be created, min 2 foot wide along major roads, and commuter areas, we can share with bicycles! THIS is job creation! Not to mention the development of the bikes themselves :)
    5- It would cost literally nothing relative to the benefits, to give people certificates to obtain one vehicle, or partial payment of 1 vehicle per household, example: gift every citizen with $2-3000 certificates used ONLY towards an electric vehicle, this money would be returned within weeks, or months on fuel savings, and lives saved cutting Russia off more and more. As people started using them, and seeing the massive benefits of low maintenance, worry free tech that is electric cycling!
    6- it would allow us to lessen our dependence on foreign oil by a small percentage, but only at first, as the trend continues, and advancement moves towards electric commuting anyway, this would only increase dramatically, even exponentially over a short period of time!
    7- There are already service centers in most cities, multiples of them, some selling their very own products. Helping out Mom and Pop stores that grew their business from regular bikes to E-bikes, what's not great about that?!
    8- life enhancements, they're fun, seriously fun! I suggest riding one if you haven't! halved, or more fuel costs per family alone would spur the economy, gradually increasing over time, this would be the perfect opportunity, and with the most honorable reasons to start the E-bike revolution. meaning savings, job, transportation, less traffic, and we haven't even mentioned the Green effect it would have on the planet! Better economy, Better world!
    EVERYTHING about this makes sense, we're not talking cars, but we could! we're just talking about basic ways to commute that don't rely on fossil fuels, and would help everyone.
    -----------------------------------------------------
    If you read that, thank you, and please consider pushing to someone that can do something with it, we need to do this!

    Can anyone tell me the advantage/disadvantage of this 1 gear bike versus one with 7 gears? If you have a throttle, I'm wondering why then have gears at all like on the Radrunner plus?

    • @Altema22
      @Altema22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The advantage of one gear is a simpler setup with less to break. If you live in a flat area or plan on using mostly the throttle, the 1 gear would be fine. Some people do pedal and live in hilly areas, and don't use the throttle unless they feel like it. For those, the 7 gears are better. I'm a former marathon cyclist and pedal a lot, using the gears to get a comfortable cadence or help with the hills.

    • @spiderpickle3255
      @spiderpickle3255 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's cheaper and simpler and works fine if you're mostly going to treat the bike as a moped or live somewhere that doesn't have significant hills.
      If you plan of pedaling or live somewhere with a lot of steep hills the 7 speed has an advantage.

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

  • @zsabeliciousstranger7588
    @zsabeliciousstranger7588 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    So the Lectric XP2.0 still beat this thing on the hill climb. It sounds like they are using the peak value to classify this motor instead of the nominal. The xp2.0 has a peak of 850w and is a 500w nominal motor. The XP2.0 is 500 dollars cheaper and still the far better value in my book.

    • @Altema22
      @Altema22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The XP 2.0 is definitely the best bang for the buck. Rad strictly stays with the 750 watt legal limit, but it can run at that power level indefinitely. The XP may peak at 850, and it did good on this hill, but a 500 watt nominal motor means that it can't hold it for long.
