When I started watching United in the 60's 70's and 80's the old 1st division had 42 games played on pitches that were like a bomb site (remember the goal mouth with sand spread around?) and only one substitute allowed. The ball was heavier and the game was more physical but you never heard the term "players are tired".

Those saying “great result” and calling Villa “formidable”? They conceded 2 in drawing with Ipswich, they were 2-0 down and very lucky at home to Everton. They were beaten comfortably at home by Arsenal. They scraped past West Ham & Leicester who both scored against them.
The word “great” should not be associated with that United performance. Ten Hag is now making decisions, and setting up teams to save his job. That’s not what it’s about, it’s not the teams job to save Ten Hag, he’s here to save this club, to get them winning, and he goes to Villa Park and parks the bus, barely had a shot in anger the whole game, and now half our fanbase are saying “great result”.

We’re closer to the relegation zone than the top four. A point away to Villa is a good point but the result and quality of play today is far from inspiring. For the first time since the 70s I sit down to watch United with a foreboding sense of doom. I’m in my late sixties and I wonder if I’ll live long enough to see United on top again. I said, from the start, that EtH needed three years but I expected us to be further along the development path by now. Good show by the boys at Villa park. Garnacho is getting better and better at shooting and crossing but he needs to work out on his decision making near the goal. We're a little nervous and slow when we're attacking. But must say that team really worked hard on gaps in the midfield and giving away possession poorly. Rashford was visibly trying harder to track back. One thing I noticed is we're playing 95% ground passes whereas in the rare times we use aeriel balls we look very threatening.

Yea, the team did well today, better passing and playing out from the back well, and a lot of movement off the ball as well. And it was nice to see some of the players sprinting back and getting stuck in.
