    Thanks for sharing your story Agustin!
    Thanks to IAS for doing the Path to Math series!! For me mathematicians seem like superhumans with unattainable mental skills. It’s inspirational to see them coming from all walks of life overcoming many obstacles to end up as mathematicians. It’s fascinating to hear the human stories behind their published papers that push forward the knowledge of humanity yet have to be impersonal.

    As a latin, I would’ve felt so inferior just attempting to apply to a top tier like Cambridge, considering people from way better countries apply and get rejected

    I'm 25. Can I learn math now?

    • @darthmath1071
      @darthmath1071 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, you can learn math at any age. But what kind of math ? Depends. Can you be a professional mathematician ? Unlikely, but again it depends: on your earlier exposure, your eagerness, working ability...No one can tell until you try.

    • @waqarhaider2226

      @@darthmath1071 I don't wanna be a professional mathematician because that's not my area. I'm interested in linguistics (+ philosophy) and some economics with it.
      I just want to have a strong mathematical foundation up to calculus, at least.

      @@waqarhaider2226 Sure you can ! Learning Calculus shall take you only a few months.
      Try starting from MIT OCW.
      You can learn till PhD level Analysis (big brother of Calculus) and so much more !
      And possibly even go for a PhD should you like it.
      Just get yourself a good mentor and a quiet place to study.

      @@SayakKolay perfectly said, but more importantly does the person asking have everything in line because studying math at that age with no financial support is dangerous. If the person could figure that out, they can study math as much as they want to.
