With your leg up on the bench like that, I keep picturing you with your foot up on your amp playing to a sold out crowd, but instead of a guitar, you've got a paddle, layin' down some sweet, sweet CW
Why not use a Wrist Rocket slingshot, to launch a fishing sinker tied to some fishing line ? Once you retrieve the sinker end, you tie the opposite end to either the antenna, or the cord attached to the antenna, and then pull it into position ! I should add that you should use a spin cast fishing reel to aid in deployment ! And will disperse the fishing line fired from the slingshot, just as if it was cast from a pole ! 👍😉
@@Utahforrest Just know what's on the other side, before launching ! I am not alone using this method ! But if you are not familiar with a Wrist Rocket, they are very powerful ! I would suggest going into an open field, to get a feel for it ! Test different launch angles, how far to pull back, for the amount of power you need to clear a tree, or shoot between the branches ! You get the idea ! And be sure to use some fairly strong fishing line ! Hope it works for you ! Good luck ! 👍😉
There is a good book on the subject of baluns and ununs, called "Understanding, Building, and Using Baluns and Ununs" by Jerry Sevick, W2FMI. It is horribly priced on Amazon and the place I bought it from isn't around anymore. I did a quick search and there is a PDF available online.
@@yrath5034 That’s great to know! I’ve really been wanting to find a book about antennas and I also want a good book on propagation if it exists. I’ll go check it out!
We have a QCX-mini and still waiting on our QMX. With your QMX, when you adjust the volume, does it change the volume of the sidetone and received signal? 73 Mike N4FFF es Becky N4BKY It's unfortunate that AL isn't one of your "propagation friends" HIHI
May I suggest that you need to either change the title of this video, or say in the description what Starlink and Morse Code have to do with each other (if anything). Was it just that you were able to stay on the internet while filming this or something? I'm confused. 72 de Gary W5PAZ/HC in Ecuador
I used Starlink to add my spot on the POTA site which definitely facilitated the majority of my QSOs. That’s about it, though. Thus, your suggestion is completely legitimate. Would love to work you some time in Ecuador! 73 de KI7QCF
@@Utahforrest Thanks for clarifying, and hope I didn't come across as harsh. Actually, I've been inactive as a ham for quite a few years, but I'm now retired in Ecuador and want to get involved in the hobby again. I've kept my license active, but haven't actually gone through the process of getting my reciprocal license here in HC land. I probably should say W5PAZ(/HC soon?) 🙂 Anyway, I'm fascinated with QRP and have 100 acres of cloudforest property where I could string up lots of wire antennas.
@@GarySchiltz Not at all! I’m super open to feedback so I appreciate when people comment and give advice. In fact I recently started including a clock in my activations because somebody mentioned it! I recently got a couple 100watt capable antennas for some QRO time here and there. Congrats on getting back into the hobby feel free to snag my email off of QRZ!
When you went to get the camera battery, we couldn't see the Forrest for the trees.
Thanks for the videos. It's good practice.

Well the week off work explains why I have been seeing your spots everyday while I am AT work. I want to retire so bad.

I think I’m most impressed by your ability to stand and send code. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else do that. Next is CW while riding a bicycle.

Two settings for sidetone volume, absolute and relative. Absolute doesn't change, Relative varies with the audio volume.
