i love it at the beginnig when they're reading the letters and they're describing each other! glinda: "unusually and exceedingly... peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe..."; elphaba: "blonde." it's great!
haha, i love this song! i didn't know that idina ever did it which anyone other than christine. this song cracks me up, though. it's like, you think they are talking about love or something "my heart is racing" all that, and then they are like "loathing!!!"
I'm a New Zealander, so I'm not an arrogant American. I just saw the Australian one and they DO use American accents. And the Wizard of Oz IS American - it's an American classic! Dorothy comes from Kansas and the whole thing - book and movie - is very Americanised.
I know, but they are from the Broadway version, I mean a video from the London version (at Victoria's theatre) with Alexia Khadime playing Elphaba XD I haven't found anything =(
Ok, I got several things to say: 1) I love how Elphaba tries to keepher cool when everyone talks about her. 2) I love her laugh at the end. 3) Who played Boq in this performance? 4) Idon't like that comment made about the Irish. 5) How much in U.S. currency is 20000 pounds?
you kno, i can actually see my english teachers doing this song. my teachers co- teach (obviously), and one of them is a blonde, and the other brunette. one is tall, the other one sorta short. it would be amazing, you have NO idea how funny it would be.
i totally agree but i can understand they're mistakes i mean they are humans and of course they're going to mess up at times but are great for the characters they are cast as....
I think that Idina and Kristen are the best for Wicked, though truthfully I have never seen the play, but these two do good too. I think this one matches Glinda too.
It's not meant to be English. It's meant to be American. The Wizard of Oz is utterly American and all the shows around the world (except London, apparently) use the American accent :)
@LondonLadybug I'm guessing you haven't seen Rachel Tucker portraying the role of Elphaba currently in the West End now. She's honestly the best Elphaba I've ever seen. Bare in mind that I've also seen Idina Menzel on Broadway as well (who is Elphaba in the scene in the video). Kerry Ellis was quite good in the role too in the West End, but not as good as Idina.
This is the original Elphaba: Idina Menzel.. It only is a new Glinda..the original was Kristin Chenoweth..if you do a bit of trouble, there are enough vids on youtube
Ok, Ok, so i see this comment is a bit delayed. But, both actresses were off pitch on some parts and quite frankly, Galinda shortened her notes waaaay too much, it seems as though she didnt gain enough air, and elphaba messed up on the "you" at the very end and somewhere in the middle of the song when they were supposed to harmonize, Elphaba was off pitch, both sung beautifully and both are great for the parts they were casted in, other than the tiny mistakes...it was wonderful!
I know its not kristin chenoweth in this video, but can anyone tell me who it is? Is it someone from the london production? I saw this once in london, but it wasnt the normal cast because I saw the matinee.
Boffinme80 always has a negative comment on people who doesn't agree with her/him. Shows how arrogant he/she really is. A real Brit with a stiff upper lip
But she's supposed to be posh, that's the character in the book. She's descended from nobility or something. so shes posh, but kind of airheaded and spoilt too.
@williambynum07 cheers very muchly, ur accent is pretty dodgy and ur spelling atrocious, u miss out the u in colours. its completely normal to us british and ur accent is the annoying one.
what do you mean "is it an u/s?" and so maybe it isnt Kristin Chenoweth. that looks like Kristin Chenoweth to me. thats all i have to say. stupid mistake on my part. boo hoo!
Americans should invent their own language, instead of bastardising mine. American accents grate against me like nails on a chalkboard. Elphaba's accent is annoying, it sounds american but Galinda sounds english. Which makes no sense. Learn to speak actual English. You know. From England. And use the right words. You mean "past", not "passed". Only then will you be able to pass judgement on other people's language.
Girl in case you didn't know, English is Anglais. Anglais means its from the Anglo Saxon. Anglo Saxon means its Germanic, which means its from German tribes. It doesn't belong to red white and blue or your royal land, but in fact Angela Merkels home.
im in love with this musical! i want to see it soo bad!
i saw this in london on a school trip and i just wanted to get up on stage and sing with them, i love wicked :)
i havent seen the musical, but still, i just love this song so much! besides defying gravity and popular, this is my all time favotite song.
i went 2 see that musical it is amazing
i luv this song
i love it at the beginnig when they're reading the letters and they're describing each other! glinda: "unusually and exceedingly... peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe..."; elphaba: "blonde." it's great!
i love she cakcles at the end of the song.
totally!
i watched this last night
I love Idina!!!!! wicked rules!!! :D Idina is the Elphaba! hehe! xox
haha, i love this song! i didn't know that idina ever did it which anyone other than christine. this song cracks me up, though. it's like, you think they are talking about love or something "my heart is racing" all that, and then they are like "loathing!!!"
I love Idina Menzel!! She has such a strong and powerful voice, I'm glad she was able to reprise her role as Elphaba for the U.K. version.
Yes. She originated Elphaba in both Broadway and London
i know i saw it too thanks for pointin it out
Did anyone notice the smile on Idina's face at the part where they sing at the key change, "There's a strange exhileration"?
luff on idina. My sister and I like to sing that song, and I do elphaba.
1) Thanks for the update. I'm not good with money conversions
2) Doesn't that laugh put a smile on your face? :-)
lol there are loads of them on youtube xD with helen and idina!
The first bit it out of sync :b This is awsome! I know I watched the 2006 CIN but I actualy don't remember this lol
Haha, 'BOO!'
'Ah!'
Best part :D
I'm a New Zealander, so I'm not an arrogant American. I just saw the Australian one and they DO use American accents. And the Wizard of Oz IS American - it's an American classic! Dorothy comes from Kansas and the whole thing - book and movie - is very Americanised.
i forgot to put a video in, so recorded it live - so only had once chance.
Its Funny people ALWAYS prefer the originals whether they're the best or not.
Doesn't Helen just have the cutest accent?
the music is slower than the people talking but other wise i like it
I know, but they are from the Broadway version, I mean a video from the London version (at Victoria's theatre) with Alexia Khadime playing Elphaba XD I haven't found anything =(

Its a shame that the video isn't better quality, it really doesn't do the song justice
it is idina menzel. she's in both the london and US cast (i think)
wicked with a british accent!\
It's Analeenne (sp?) Beechey playing Glinda.
already covered in another comment ;o)
its Annalene Beechey, Helen was sick
@DisneyMagicW True but I simply adore Kristin and Idina.
Idina truly is the best Elphaba ever XD
Is that Idina?! Did NOT know she was in the British castings... That's a new one.
its Annalene Beechey - she's now left the show
i totally agree
but i can understand they're mistakes
i mean they are humans and of course they're going to mess up at times but are great for the characters they are cast as....
idina was in the British cast?! wooah! I'm outta the loop!
I think that Idina and Kristen are the best for Wicked, though truthfully I have never seen the play, but these two do good too. I think this one matches Glinda too.
I mean a video taken by somebody from the audience at Victoria's theatre ^^
It's not meant to be English. It's meant to be American. The Wizard of Oz is utterly American and all the shows around the world (except London, apparently) use the American accent :)
This is my favorite song, and these ladies do it really well, but I like Cheno better.
The language barrier...or accent barrier i thik.. makes the blending difficult...but i love idina this role was made for her.
i'm not 100% who is playing Elphaba but i think the Glinda is Helen Dallimore. (may be the wrong spelling of her name)
the set looks like surplus from star trek deep space nine
@LondonLadybug I'm guessing you haven't seen Rachel Tucker portraying the role of Elphaba currently in the West End now. She's honestly the best Elphaba I've ever seen. idina Menzel :)
84
@blake503 What about Margaret Hamilton?? She originated the role after all.
did you know idina is going to play belle in starlight express.
It is Idina Menzell.
If you mean who plays her, it's Kristin Chenoweth. If you mean is she the blonde or brunette, she's the blonde.
there isn't an originallondencast video of this song ;)!
Helen isn't Galinda. It's Annalene Beechey.
Ok, Ok, so i see this comment is a bit delayed. Those PC error noises in the background are really distracting....
Ow yer lol haha
Does anyone know where there is a vide of this song the REAL London cast??
And Im British :((
she was u/s
she's trying to keep from laughing, i believe.
A real Brit with a stiff upper lip
oh. ok. dont worry about being harsh.
But she's supposed to be posh, that's the character in the book. She's descended from nobility or something. so shes posh, but kind of airheaded and spoilt too.
why do they say popopsicle? isnt it popsicle?
It looks like Idina Menzell to me though.
this video is pretty out of sync, but its still pretty good. I do like Kristin Better. IDINA MENZEL ROCKS!
i like kristen better as galinda too... indina menzel has an amazing voice!! :)
Yes, it is Idina Menzel. She's not British though.
i think glinda suits bimbo better than posh :/
@williambynum07 cheers very muchly, ur accent is pretty dodgy and ur spelling atrocious, u miss out the u in colours. its completely normal to us british and ur accent is the annoying one.
yea me either!!! That chick that plays Galinda is really manly looking and i don't like her expressions!!!
i do, but elphaba isn't the best. there r so many people i can describe w/ this song...
what do you mean "is it an u/s?" and so maybe it isnt Kristin Chenoweth. that looks like Kristin Chenoweth to me. thats all i have to say. stupid mistake on my part. boo hoo!

terribly out of sync!
