Oh! This song also sounded like a musical to me, I had never listened it to Lara. So I looked it up and I was surprised; this song belongs to the movie "Yentl" which is a musical film starring and directed by Barbra Streisand that was released in 1983. Everyday something new is learned and it's never too late 😊. See you in the next one 👋
Let me give you the context of this performance.
This is a cover of her idol Barbra Streisand. Medley means this is a combination, here a combination of 2 songs : Papa Can You Hear Me and Piece of Sky.
Yentl is the name of the 1983 musical movie starring Barbra that included these 2 songs.
Yentl is a masterpiece, a musical drama movie that is one of the most personal project from Barbra Streisand. The story is based on a short story “Yentl the Yeshisha book” from Isaac Bashevis Singer and Barbra stars in this movie as a jewish girl who is secretly studying Talmud by her father (normally reserved to men) and after his death disguise herself in a man to attend rabbinical studies. And there falls in love with a male schoolmate.
The first song is performed in the movie after her father death, when she decides to impersonate a boy and attend the rabbinical school. The second song ends the movie: she is on the boat aiming to America and Ellis Island, she has left Poland and is ready for a brand new start in a new world.
The 1983 movie was critically and publicly acclaimed and won several oscars including the music and soundtrack. It also won severzl golden globe awards including best director for Barbra.
The 2 songs here were composed by french legend Michel Legrand. It was his 3rd oscar for movie music as he had already won 2 for The Thomas Crown Affair ("The Windmills of Your Mind") and The Summer of ‘42.
Lara is an absolute fan of Barbra and this cover is both a tribute to her and her father. She committed herself to cover these 2 songs on stage at least once, when she attended the movie release in theaters at 14yo.
These are 2 very difficult songs and it’s quite rare to find singers able to perform these live and chained (was Lara the only one doing it with that level of vocal, stamina and acting skills?). I call this perf “Lara in broadway mode”.
Barbra said to Lara: "I don’t say this very often but you are very good".
And later Barbra covered Lara’s masterpiece Broken Vow in some of her own concerts.
The parents of Lara were attending this concert, as they were celebrating their wedding’s 30th anniversary, and Lara often focuses on her dad during this perf. She dedicated them later in the concert another cover she made: I will always love you.

Lara is simply Divine in this cover of a song from the film Yentl by Barbra Streisand. Lara's performance inspired you to think about the bonds between children and parents... Indeed, she was singing for her father who was in the room with her mother. Lara is an only child and had a very strong bond with her parents...

P.S. Her father was there in the audience that night with her mother. Actually, it was their wedding anniversary and she dedicated a song to them: “I Will Always Love You”. ❤

Avant son cours de philosophie, un professeur est debout en avant de la classe avec quelques
objets devant lui.
Lorsque le cours commence, il prend doucement un très grand pot de mayonnaise vide et
commence à le remplir avec des balles de golf.
Ensuite, il demande aux étudiants si le pot est plein. Ils sont tous d'accord pour dire que le pot
est plein.
Le professeur prend alors une boîte de cailloux et les verse dans le pot.
Il secoue le pot doucement. Les cailloux roulent dans les espaces laissés entre les balles de
golf. Ensuite, il redemande aux étudiants si le pot est plein. Ils sont tous d'accord pour dire que
le pot est plein.
Le professeur prend ensuite une boîte de sable et verse le sable dans le pot.
Évidemment, le sable remplit tout l'espace restant. Il demande une autre fois si le pot est plein.
Les étudiants répondent unanimement que le pot est plein.
Le professeur prend ensuite deux tasses de café cachées sous son bureau, et les verse
complètement dans le pot et le café remplit tous les espaces laissés par le sable. Les étudiants
rient.
« Maintenant! », dit le professeur lorsque les rires s'estompent. « Je veux que vous imaginiez
que ce pot représente votre vie.
Les balles de golf représentent les choses importantes : votre famille, vos enfants, votre santé,
vos ami(e)s et vos passions favorites. Les choses que, si vous perdez tout le reste sauf ces
choses, votre vie restera remplie.
Les cailloux représentent les autres choses importantes à vos yeux comme votre emploi, votre
maison et votre auto. Le sable représente tout le reste les petites choses.
« Si vous placez le sable en premier dans le pot » continue le professeur « alors il n'y aura plus
de place pour les cailloux ni pour les balles de golf. C'est la même chose dans la vie. Si vous
dépensez toute votre énergie sur les petites choses, vous n'aurez jamais de place dans votre
vie pour les choses que vous trouvez importantes. »
Portez attention aux moments critiques de votre bonheur. Jouez avec vos enfants. Prenez le
temps d'aller voir votre médecin pour votre examen général. Invitez votre amoureux (se) au
restaurant. Jouez un autre 18 trous. Il sera toujours temps de nettoyer la maison et de réparer
le broyeur.
Prenez soin de vos balles de golf en premier. Les choses ayant vraiment de l'importance.
Réévaluez vos priorités. Le reste étant seulement du sable.
Un des étudiants lève la main et demande qu'est-ce que le café représente.
Le professeur répond en souriant « Je suis heureux que vous me posiez la question. Le café
est là seulement pour vous rappeler que peu importe comment votre vie semble remplie, il y a
toujours de la place pour déguster deux bons cafés avec un(e) ami(e).
