I agree. Fishing as you & I and so many others practice it, is a leisurely and contemplative experience. The guy on this video I doubt has much leisure time, plus he's trying to feed his village. His fishing practice is all about ingenuity and pragmatism.

I'm not sure electric eels can survive that murky water but they might be able to I'm not sure. And he has probably set these traps up before and he knows what can and cant be trapped in them I'm guessing

Seems like a good system to me, spend half an hour making a trap, set it with a piece of the fish you caught the previous day, go back 4 hours later & collect fish & repeat as often as you like to get enough food for your family & if you want non-food items, then you take your surplus fish to the grocery store & sell/exchange for what you want How many hours work would you have to do to have enough money to buy a fish like that from your grocery store Jay? Bet you have to work MUCH harder than this guy does! He's got all the pleasure time in the world - while you're sneaking a look at youtube & hoping your boss doesn't catch you, as you slave away for 8 hours a day earning your money to buy your fish :P

It is not effective, given how labor-intensive it is. It took 4 hours to catch one little fish. He could have done that in 5 minutes using a fishing rod and a hook, then go home.
