If you put the tie or the pipe cleaner in the channel on the Bowdabra before you start putting your ribbon or netting in ,when you finish filling it with whatever medium you chose , then you push down with the stick (the one you seem to think doesn’t have a purpose) that holds the whole thing together , then you just bring it to the top of the Bowdabra with whatever your going to tie it off with , this makes life so much easier than trying to manipulate with your hands while holding the ribbon etc. I personally use coloured thin elastic and use the excess to tie my bows onto my parcel etc.
I liked the Bowdabra wire but I prefer pulling it all out and using a pups cleaner. That's the beauty of crafting. We can all use the products we prefer and use them the way we are most comfortable. I don't see any use for the bar but if you do... Then use it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I have to agree with N Neal regarding DIY Dion's teaching techniques. I am also a retired teacher (librarian). You are great. I scanned several videos and did not stay with them if the presenter was not clear or easy to follow. You may not have written a lesson plan, but to me you had thought it out. Just today I thought about learning to make my own bows. I have been buying bows to put on cemetery flowers. I make seven arrangements when I am able to travel home. I order the bows because I can't make them. I pay $5.99 to $6.99 for a nice bow to put on the flowers. If I learn to make my own, I can buy the ribbon and make my own for much less. After watching your video, I decided to buy the EZ bowmaker. Now I have to shop for the best buy! Thank you for this great informative video.

Very good comparison . I prefer the bowdabra, but I put it on top of a inch sheet. Works perfect. I DO use the scrunched especially on heavy velvet ribbon. It is a lifesaver on my hands
Hi Dion! Great job showing us the different varieties of bow makers and how to use them ! I like the EZ bow maker bow the best! I like how you used the bow dabra for holding the mesh ribbons for the wreaths! Awesome! Thanks so much! Have a blessed day! 🌸

Great question!! Requires some calculating. How many loops? What size loops? Do you want tails? If so, how long. Once you figure out all that you have to add it up. You have inspired me to do a video and log all the measurements to share. Thanks for watching!
Hello Dion I like your video I watched it 2 times. =) Thank you! However, I do have a question when you compared the two bows the EZ BowMaker had what 12 loops and the Bowdabra only had 4 not counting the small top loop. Wouldn't you compare the same exact style to make that decision to which bow maker you liked better? It clearly showed the Bowdabra bow looked like a much weaker, less full bow because it was as it lacked many loops than the one you used as a comparison to the EZ Bowmaker. You did make the same bow with the Bowdabra why didn't you compare it to that one? Just curious. I am too very OCD. Doesn't look like anyone lives in my home. lol So I'm 100% with you on that. =) Keep on bowing....I'm just starting out and I love it. So I appreciate all of you ladies taking the time to make tutorials for all of us beginners.
Hi Cheryl, So glad you are here and enjoyed the video. It's been a minute since I watched it, so I watched it again and made some notes of the times that I compared the bows. At 7:37 I compare the 4 loop bows that were made by both bow makers. At 9:55 I compare the 12 loop bows that were made by both bow makers. At 16:37 I show all three bows made by the Bowdabra. At 16:57 I show both bows made by the EZ Bow Maker. I hope that highlights some good info but please let me know if you have any other questions. I am always happy to hear when people are starting out. Crafting is a great way to relax and in the end you have something great for your home or as a gift. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, catch you later.

Agreed, the two are similar in the technique you use but the EZ Bow Maker has the ruler so it puts it a little ahead in my opinion. I really like some of the videos I watched on the Bowdabra. It is more versatile than I thought. The epic fail felt much more epic when it happened. LOL Looking back it is hard to catch watching the video. When I used the Bow-it-All to try the simple bow with the wider ribbon it was just bunchy and too much ribbon. I tossed it once away out of frustration but in fast motion it was hard to catch. Thanks so much for your engaging comments. It's fun to talk with people about their thoughts on the videos.
You need to install all of the dowels provided. Your missing a large dowel in the center. That will securely hold the ribbon. Should have looked at the instructions instead of tossing aside!
I did look at the instructions when I first started using the bow maker. I was just being silly and no one wants to watch a video where someone reads you the instructions. It's much better to demo tools. I prefer using it without the the third dowel rod. I think it does just fine and it's easier to remove with just two of the dowels. The great thing is that you can use the dowels that you like to use and I can use the ones I like to use. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You are so easy to listen to and made it all look pretty easy. This helped me decide which bowmaker to purchase. Great job.
