Regine has joined and won countless of singing contests all her life, but these three songs are the most important ones for these are the songs that shaped her career. Her first song In Your Eyes was her winning song from Bagong Kampeon. Think of that competition as American Idol’s counterpart in the Philippines in the 1980’s. That’s when she was first introduced to the whole country. She became a little famous after winning Bagong Kampeon, but was not yet a diva. Then she was handpicked to represent the Philippines in The Asia Pacific Singing Contest where she sang And I Am Telling You as her qualifying song, and then You’ll Never Walk Alone as her final song. That’s when her career jumped from a D lister to being one of the most sought after singer in the Philippines and Asia, that earned her title Asia’s Songbird, which eventually turned her into a diva, and now the Queen of OPM of all time 👑 That’s how these three songs became the most important songs in her career 🥂

She cried before hitting highnotes and that’s crazy and very risky while singing. The Asia Pacific Song Festival was held in HK (1989). Twenty is a 2-night concert. The first night was an all out belting Regine. Her version of What Kind of Fool that night was higher than the one recorded for TV (mostly reacted version). Her voice on the 2nd night was kinda hoarse on the first 3 songs. Like an Alien Queen she mustered all her strength, technique and vocal process - was able to sing all the songs in one of her most vocally challenging concerts. 🤭 More Power Mathias 🥳🥳🥳
In her early days she is combing every village patron saint fiesta with singing contest.. some days got 2 singing contest she join the same night and go home empty handed but mostly winner.. thats how hard life is and shes greatfull for those hard days that makes her who she is now.. unbeatable box office queen of philippine movies and reiging concert queen and undesputable songbard
