I was inadvertently hunting a scrape that a large buck was frequenting. It was where three trails converged and where a vine or limb was hanging naturally. Now that I have watched these videos it makes absolute sense!

I started using your mock scrape system last year. Literally less than 24 hours later deer were hitting it and they continue to do so. Since then I have added a couple more at various locations. All of them continually get used 24/7/365.

It is awesome. It is working great here in pa. It’s a great way to get pictures. Seems like they like playing with them and communicate with them at the same time. And it’s a fun project to make one.
Jeff I've been using your mock vine scrapes for the last 5 years everywhere I hunt. They flat out work, I've have my hunting buddies using them as well.
I watched the mock scrap videos awhile back and decided what the heck. Found a nice straight Muscadine Vine and will continue to use this trick from now on.
Really surprised you went this far I've seen other people putting out trees but just for the rub and I get it awesome place for a mock scrape always adapting thank you Jeff

This spring I put out 2 mock scrapes in 2 places I thought would be good bow stands (all following your principals). One of them hasn't really seen anything, but the other one has activity every day several times a day. We've seen 3 bucks this summer and I'm hoping that they're just telegraphing and not making their summer abode. Thanks for all you do

Been watching and learning from your videos. Have one active mock scrap and looking for a second placement for our 2nd. We have never used one drop of scent and have had great results.

Always appreciate your insight. I commented on your video from about 2 weeks ago. I had made a smaller one that only had an open area in the shape of an oval 3' by 8' and I was worried it was going to be too tight but it's working well so far. Even have videos raccoons playing with it.
Black Locust would be great for anti-rot if you don't have cedar. They were originally planted for farmers to use as fence posts.

I tried a mock scrape last season with the natural grape vine from the same woods. All deer avoided that thing like the plague.
White cedar in the north east will last a long time too
Sorry Jeff, this is a little off topic. I'm doing your buckwheat no till this year. Can a fertilize and pelitize lime after a seed, crush. And spray the buckwheat.

I have hung stands and vines on trails leading to my food plots. Some of my stands are within eyesight of the plots but are a minimum of 70 yards off the plot edges. I want to try to keep any disturbances to a minimum on those plots. Do you think that’s a good strategy?

Hey Jeff, love the tips on the mock scrapes and they've done wonders. But just curious, can you move a mock scrape after its been established? I would like to move a stand, to make it easier to get to without spooking deer, but don't want to disrupt them and they don't come back, I want to keep them in the location just maybe 50 yards from the location it's currently in. Hi Michael! Not too bad, especially angled from high looking down towards lower end of vine. Good, long heavy vines help a lot...so does a sturdy branch or line to connect them to. Really not bad at all...
Jeff - Have you had any luck using just a cedar post and attaching branches? Probably less of a "natural" look, but wondering if you've seen similar results. It's tougher to find a good red cedar to utilize on my parcel.
I haven't, but I have seen them work ok. Non treated of course!
Also works with a small beech tree, jack pine, white oak...lots of options!

But like you said, the red cedars are usually money which is why I was thinking of alternatives while sticking with that species. For whatever reason, the bucks definitely love them. Wherever there are any, they're always rubbed!!
Question Jeff,on my hunting properties I'm finding an increase in scraping activity but almost no rubbing.in your opinion what would you consider this the behavior of young or old bucks? I appreciate your coloums on you tube and I value your opinion.thank you!
Hey Jeff, quick question. As the cedar loses its needles and the branches remain, should I replace the tree with a new one that has green needles on it or will the original tree with no needles or leaves suffice?
I have been using grape vines for my mock scrape and they work awesome. My question is how often to you replace the vines ? Mine are 4 to 5 years old and are very dry and starting to splinter.
I would say every 3-5 years?
Ive been using your mock scrape tactics on my 60 acre parcel for about 3 years now. My only question is what if there is already a natural scrape within bow range of my stand? Should I remove natural licking branch and hang my own for a better shot?

Hey Jeff wondering if u have any tips on using bait only in the of season with peaches and deer corn
Also how should I hunt land that has only 1 corn field which a few deer feed at and there isn't much food around the deer only eat on bait in of season and sometimes the does eat apples but they come into horse pastures alot

Hi Jeff, when looking to buy hunting land, how to you always find land that has mature 6 year old bucks on or near it? I know you mention there are areas where a 3 year old is the oldest buck around so whats the secret to avoiding the low age structure areas?

Why is it some times I put a vine on a deer run 1" vine hanging looks natural clear out like a 4 foot area. And deer may just smell it or just walk around it. Why is that hope you can help me out with this. Thanks
