      Hi Nikka! Welcome to the channel, it's great to have you apart of the community. I'm happy to hear that the content was useful. This is a great question, since you have an undergrad already I would be compelled to do a Masters only because it is a bit faster then the Syllabus program however if financing your degree would be a concern then the Syllabus program is a good option since you'd be able to work and continue your studies along with gaining practical experience. Hello Ashley, your videos are really helpful me and I have quick question ! In my case, I already graduate undergraduate architecture school in University of Toronto and I am working as an architectural designer now. And I am quite confusing that some people say, if i already graduated from uoft architecture school, I don't need to go master's degree to become a licensed architect and some people say I have to go. I just want to know which information is correct. and if I do not want to go master's degree, do i have other options to get the license? except the syllabus program you mentioned. Thank you !

      Hi Roy, this is a great question. In short, the bachelor program at UofT and a few other schools used to be accredited (professional degree) however now all the undergraduate programs in Canada are not accredited programs so you need to do a professional (accredited) masters program otherwise you can not become an architect. I have a video on this topic which goes into more details th-cam.com/video/GcFIyOCI9xo/w-d-xo.html . I hope this helps and apologies for the late reply still catching up on the comments.

      @architecture_tv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sugandha! Great question! Yes you can work at an Architecture firm in Canada without a license. You don't necessarily need a license to work in the field. If you want to open your practice then you MUST be licensed. I work at a local practice and for the first few years I didn't have a license and I only became an Intern Architect a few months later. A few years into the internship program then I got licensed but its not required when you're working at a firm. For me it was important but many of my colleagues aren't licensed or interested in becoming licensed which is fine.

    Hey Ashley!!!! Your videos are so helpful. I just have a few questions.
    If I have graduated from an Advanced Diploma (3 years), how much time should I need to spend in a university? Can I get credits transferred so I don't have to do 4 years again? Do I need a BCIN to start my own practice for few years while I am at university and then after some experience I can open my own firm?

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Annie! Happy to hear the content is helpful 😊 Many programs provide advance standing, you would need to look into the specific program/University you plan to attend. The duration of the program also depends on the University/program along with if you get advance standing (credits transferred). But you could expect an average of 2 years for Masters and 4 years of an undergrad degree. BCIN is only for small buildings (from the OBC, houses under a specific square footage) if you want to design larger scale projects and own your practice then you need to become a licensed Architect. Also, you could work in the industry under another firm without having to become a licensed Architect or hold a BCIN.

    • @anniegajjar4166
      @anniegajjar4166 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohh so for being an architect, I need to become a licensed architect and BCIN only works for residential projects or smaller square footage. Good to know. Also, I am not looking for masters right now, I want to pursue bachelors degree after the 3 year advanced diploma in architecture. I just want to know the approx years u need to attend school. As I don’t want to study 4 more years on top of 3 years. I want to know if these 3 years can get transferred and I have to do 1/2 years on top of this advanced diploma.

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cire! There is a possibility of switching programs to Canada. In order to know exactly I would recommend getting in touch with the Architecture program you plan to attend and ask if they would be able to transfer the two years completed. If you don't like the current program you are doing then it might be something to pursue, it also depends on if you're able to transfer your credits. There's also the option of completing your studies and then moving to Canada. You could then get your education certified, I'll be doing a video for international students that want to become a licensed Architect in Canada so stay tune.

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shubham! In order to get licensed you need a B.Arch or M.Arch which needs be accredited by the CACB. Another way to get licensed is through the RAIC Syllabus program. There are 3 main components to getting licensed in Canada 1. Education, 2. Experience, and 3. Examination. Plus depending on your jurisdiction you live/work there are additional requirements. For example in Ontario you need to take an Admission Course. So a diploma in a related subject will not count toward the Education requirement for licensure. For more information see RAIC website: raic.org/raic/becoming-architect and CACB website: cacb.ca/

      Hi Jaskaran, yes it's possible. If you have undergrad outside of Architecture you can do a Masters in Architecture from UBC, UofT, Carleton, and University of Calgary. These schools offer multidisciplinary programs which don't require a background in Architecture to enroll and these programs are accredited by the CACB. I would recommend looking into those programs for more details:
      1. CACB accredited programs list: cacb.ca/accredited-programs/
      2. UBC: sala.ubc.ca/admissions/master-architecture

      1. RAIC syllabus program - during this program you will complete the education requirement, collect your experience as an Intern Architect, and write your exams. For more information see the RAIC website here raic-syllabus.ca/home and see the following video: th-cam.com/video/dLXwZ77ET08/w-d-xo.html
      2. University route - you need to have Bachelors degree (this degree doesn't need to be in architecture) and Masters degree from an accredited program. Once you get your education, you can begin getting your experience (as an Intern Architect), and write the exams. Also, depending on the jurisdiction you plan to work and live you may have additional requirements. For example, in Ontario you need to complete the admission course. Hi Himanshu! There is an alternative path to getting licensed in Canada which doesn’t involve getting a masters degree. This alternative path is called the Syllabus program, I’ll be doing a future video on this so stay tune!

      Hi Gungeet! I will be doing a video on this topic so stay tune however to get you started these are my recommendations. If you don't have an undergrad in architecture then you have two options University of British Columbia or University of Toronto for masters in architecture. If you do have an undergrad in architecture then I would recommend 1. University of British Columbia, 2. University of Waterloo, and 3. University of Toronto. These three are the top universities I would recommend. I have a video on the factors I considered when I applied for my masters which might give you more insight: th-cam.com/video/gv-FK3AueiY/w-d-xo.html . I hope this helps 😊

    Hello Ashley. I'm a Civil Engineer here in the Philippines. It's been my dream to also become an Architect someday. I am planning to enroll for Architectural Technologist next year in Canada. Does the subjects of Architectural Technologist reduced the length or span of time on becoming Architect if I ever decided to study and pursue Architecture after Architectural Technologist?

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 1rreL! Thank you for sharing and the introduction. The architectural technologists courses might help get some credits when you get into university or the syllabus program but some programs might not approve of that so this wouldn't really reduce the time it takes to become licensed. You have two options in order to become licensed; option 1. University Route (4 yrs undergrad and 2 yrs masters degree from an accredited school) option 2 Syllabus program and if you are an international student already holding 5year bachelors degree then you could get your education certified by the CACB. I would check out this video; th-cam.com/video/WfQ0Vx7Uol0/w-d-xo.html And for more information about the syllabus program I would checkout this video: th-cam.com/video/dLXwZ77ET08/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps.

      Hi Kowshi! Yes, you can get an architecture job with a B.Arch from India. I have a video linked below which provides some tips. Not sure if your B.Arch program was a 5+ year program but you could also look into getting your education certified so that you can begin the process of getting licensed in Canada. This is if becoming an Architect is of interest. I would recommend watching the following videos for some insight:
