Thank you Sanjeev sir for this detailed study. Another broader idea according to me we can work upon is, opening up a water metro similar to Kochi in both sides of Hooghly river, one from Bandel to Howrah and the other from Naihati to Howrah. I think these would ease up a lot of pressure from the existing suburban train network as well act as a sustainable mode of transportation for the massed.
We need to make capital expenditures. We need to make our infrastructure world class, only then investment followed by employment will happen. Otherwise, a gross regional disparity will evolve, and disproportionate growth will happen. We need to stop borrowing for freebies. Indian Economy will grow rapidly in coming decades, and budding entrepreneurs like us want to live up to the expectations of our nation. If things do not change, we will have to shift our base and embrace growth elsewhere. We want to be a contributor of this state and provide employment here, but if infrastructures are not improved, we will have no other option but to LEAVE......
We need more such conversation and ones that gets implemented for several parts of Kolkata to make the city appealing and get the economic activity moving
Shibpur is my alma mater. an institute, worth being made an IIT in every damn way, that rots away in neglect across the river. Howrah is a cess pool without roads and drainage. Why not make multiple, multi rise Bidhannagars in howrah? give kolkata a circular outline instead of its stupid linear outline putting more stress on the same routes. We still relying on centuries old bridges? we got only 2 bridges, and a mini one in dakshineshwar? really? Mamta talked of making Kolkata london. Crossings of the River Thames including bridges, tunnels and ferries. There are almost 214 bridges, over 20 tunnels, six public ferries and one ford in greater london. Do we even have a plan to reach there? we have half a city. with important bits on the other half, manufacturing, labor and the damn railway station. Shib cannot thrive without Durga. I fucking pray to you. rescue my damn city.
Very bad idea there is no need to commercialise everything. Look at the THAMES riverfront in London or look at the SEINE riverfront in paris it will take you back to the 1700 s. The heriatge building need to be restored and avoid the modern constructions . Though it may look beautiful in paintings trust me there is a great difference between artist impressions and real world representation Except for the nimtala ghat none of the designs are good
because of the people like you who love this old haunted kind of architect. Our city can't grow. I mean seriously Bengalis always opposed new technology that's why today we are facing this downfall in our state as well as Kolkata. Same happened with tram line. People don't try to understand we are living in 21st century. We have to grow. Can't you see other Indian cities are making good architect in their city. What bad will happen if Kolkata would get this type of architect. Many foreigners love to come here to see river beauty. If this would happen. It will give our city a good look. Please try to understand this ghats look like old and dirty. We all want development. Today Kolkata is just look like old colonized city because of lack of infrastructure development unlike other metropolitan city in India.

The people of Kolkata will have to decide to elevate their city. Not easy but certainly not impossible!
Make Kolkata a walkable heritage city. A riverfront cycling and walking corridor should be built comparable to Gomti Riverfront Lucknow.
We need more such conversation and ones that gets implemented for several parts of Kolkata to make the city appealing and get the economic activity moving
Beautiful concept.. But very difficult to implement unless political will is there
being implemented in other parts of the country... this state needs to stop being such a commie.
Please sir make this architect in Kolkata.
will this even be done or just vague proposal , need this in every city of india also should have been done very early
Wow! This is really good.. is the PPT available publicly?
