You basically have to play the universe's whims like an instrument, that's why spells have a casting time. That's what makes Jerma such a terrifying opponent in Wizard Combat, his spells have no casting time due to his sheer ignorance

Even Lordran necromancer trio Pinwheel needn't any complex spells to deal with that failure, it was easily bedazzled by basic illusion magic and simple projectile-based offensive spells.
