    You literally have no idea how much this helps! I’m only 19 with a 65 mustang and just understanding how everything works is amazing

      Awesome, this why I make these videos, I'm hoping somebody somewhere is able to pull some small nugget of info from them and help with their project. I've even had to use my videos because I had forgotten how to remove some parts. :)

    The black looks so much better than the cream colored seats.

    You should just go ahead and recover them. I did mine myself so its not that hard. Go ahead and get new foam too. I went with the TMI Sports Seats. They have added foam bolsters to hold you in better than the stock flat ones. I also got the marching headrests.
    National Parts Depot carries a huge selection and I think you can order straight from TMI.

      It's not that it's hard to do (I re-upholstered the seats in my first '66 Mustang), I just don't like doing the work. More over, it's the cost that's the biggest hurdle. Redoing the seats is expensive and I'd rather have the money for car parts that redoing the seats.
      However, I do like the TMI seats, especially the ones with additional bolstering. :)

    My 70 has an all black interior and I’m wanting to go the other way, I’m thinking of ways to break up the black, but never been a fan of black, black paint, black wheels yuk, you do a good job Andy with your videos 👍🇦🇺

      Thanks!! The Panda color wouldn't be too bad if the seats were actually white instead of cream, but the cream and white car don't mix well. :)

    2 options, upholstery the front seat, go to all black, or go with pro series seats.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely want to swap out the seats, the pro series is one of a few on the list. But I've got a few other things on the list that need to get addressed first. :)

    Hey Andy love the car and videos. I just bought a 65 2+2 Fastback and need to install rear seat belts. Did your mustang already have the harness points installed in the mustang? What did you end up doing with the rear seat in order to thread the seat belts through the new black rear seat pad?

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the threaded locations for the seat belts were already there, and I think they should be there on your car too. I never ended up modifying the seat for the belts to fit. In fact, no one has used the rear seat since I replaced it, so it's one of those out of sight things. :)

    Doesn’t have the seatbelt holes because seatbelts were an additional option at extra cost in those years. My 64.5 convertible doesn’t have them.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe that lower seat is from one of those early cars? :)

    • @sergioacevedo2874

      @@AndyKruseChannel alternative possibility is it was already reupholstered and the material needed to be cut and was not. If you do cut it for the seat belts I’d recommend putting in some kind of plastic square around the belt hole so it doesn’t tear the fabric further. I ran into that once on a restoration.

    A good upholstery shop can dye the front seats. Also check with a local car dealer to find out who does their onsite upholstery touch up.

      Dying the vinyl has crossed my mind, but I wonder if it's the Wal-Mart way of handling this problem?

    • @billgoble6209

      @@AndyKruseChannel Andy, if you use a pro I think you will be happy. I had the front bucket seats of a $90K Mercedes done and after 5 years they still looked almost new. Just food for thought buddy.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@billgoble6209 I was thinking more along the lines of doing the Dye myself. If I pay someone to do it, I might as well just re-upholster the seats and skip the Dye process. But, it's good to hear that the seats are still holding up all these years later. :)

    Not sure how a she would take to the vinyl.. but that's a possibility.
    I also saw on @GreaseRookieGarage video where he did a vinyl paint.. that seemed to work well, not sure how much use it gets and how it's held up but pretty sure he did it over a year ago.

      Painting the vinyl is definitely an option, oh wait, I've said too much........ :)

      @AndyKruseChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I've been wanting to change them since I bought the car, but there's so many other things that need attention first. :)

  • @FastFords289
    @FastFords289 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Black definitely looks better, another option you could try is redying the seats you have. You can go to the auto parts store and get black vinyl seat dye, some places like car quest can color match and order a specific color or tone you want. I dyed the seats and door panels in my 68 fairlane and it looks like new, I also dyed the dash pad in my 76 ford truck blue and it’s an exact match, so it can be done, you just have to take your time and clean the vinyl really well, I used alcohol.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought about it, but I didn't want it to seem like I was taking the cheap route. One of my concerns is the dye coming off on my clothes, but I imagine those sort of problems have probably all been worked out. :)

    • @FastFords289
      @FastFords289 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndyKruseChannel I hear you, I thought the same thing at first, but as long as you let it dry, like let them set out I’m the sun to cure onto the vinyl it’s not coming off. I haven’t had any of it come off on my clothes or rub off the upholstery.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FastFords289 I'm tempted, it sure would be a way cheaper way to deal with that ugly cream color, at least until I can get some different seats. :)

      I've had quite a few people comment on the doing the vinyl dye on these seats. I might just go that route, at least it's a cheap temporary solution while I figure out what I want to do with the seats long term (re-upholster or replace). Thanks! :)
