- This year I started using ePropulsion's Spirit 1.0 electric outboard motor, and it is now a must-have on my lake fishing boat. It's quiet, and gets me from point A to B quickly, and more importantly the battery charge lasts all day.

Cool! I have the exact same problem with my gas outboard (heavy as heck). Was thinking about switching to electric. Quieter, lighter, more eco friendly.

Very interesting. I recently bought a 9.9 for my boat and like you, at 91lbs, I am finding it very difficult to manhandle. Can you supplement the power with a conventional deep cycle batter? Holly crap it was faster than I expected. Any idea on anticipated battery life at say 50% power (pls ignore, its on the web site)?

Does it work in saltwater and are there options with more horse power?

Can you run your fish finder off that battery? If not you still need a deep cycle.
I don’t use a deep cycle battery for my fish finder.

I have an old 40 year old 9.9 mercury that just keeps on going. When it kicks the bucket, I hope electric motor tech will allow me to replace it at more reasonable prices than today. I'm guessing it should be able to do both trolling and point a to b functions. Imagine lakes with mostly quiet electric motors.
I see lots of potential for form factor improvements for the battery. It should be low profile, fit on the bottom of the boat, and be a walkable, not really taking space. I would not buy a motor with proprietory tech.
I've been annoyed at campsites by fishers running generators at night to recharge batteries. I'm hoping for more use of solar and battery tech to reduce this. Its already available. Check out Will Prowse for reviews and ideas. When we have electric vehicles there will be another source of recharging. Interesting future ahead.
You know it is expensive if the price was not mentioned
I love this motor but I have to disagree with you on thinking it is more like 6 hp. There is no way! I have a 6 hp mercury outboard from 1996 and it will get my 13 foot aluminum up on a plane with myself (200lbs) and my daughter (110lbs) and when I check it on the GPS I got 23 km/h. If you check yours with the GPS I bet you’re only going 12 km/h max. Maybe 15 if you’re lucky. Check it out and let me know. I’m curious.

Not only would the price likely vary from country to country, but vary in different parts of any single country. The internet is international. Apparently, you FAILED to learn that. Maybe stick to your Minecraft video game......
