Thank you for reacting to this song! I also loved your analysis of Li Yugang ~ and how you focused on both of them with excellent commentary (it's easy to just focus on Dimash only). Great job!
I have to say you picked up on Li's voice very well! Li Yugang is a singer and a performer in the China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater. He specializes in "nandan" role, which is male who plays female role in Peking opera. I thought their duet was an excellent mix of styles! With Li's someone traditional Chinese opera style, and Dimash, the chameleon. I find that Dimash often alters his voice to blend with his partner. In this case (in my opinion), I though he adopted a little hit of Li's style during the last section of the song. It helped when they sang in harmony. I noticed Dimash (when he started belting towards the end) slipped into a 'Dimash' voice. If that all makes sense.
ANYWAYS! There is a new Dimash duet you haven't reacted to yet! It's "Jasmine Flower" (third year in a row singing it!). Dimash sang with Luo Tianyi (who is a virtual singer based off an anime, as far as I'm aware). It's also epic! The performance at the end of January this year. Please react to it!

I'd just like to ask if this Chinese style of opera singing can project over an orchestra, just like the western technique?
@@francisfabian242 Yes it can easily pierce through a full orchestra, I find. Chinese Peking Opera style has a very distinct sound that really compliments the traditional musical instruments of China.
The whole performance interpret a story of the emperor and a concubine (drunken). Dimash is singing for the emperor part and Li is doing the female parts. Li Yugang is 41 yrs old famous Beijing opera singer but he performs for female characters. ☺

For other "Western" youtubers, they tend to just focus on Dimash (although Li is basically someone who everybody knows in China) and just doesn't give as much credit to him as he deserves. Thank you Harper for you info, whay I want to point out is Dimash's pronunciation is very accurate, I can heat evey words what he is singing no need to see the subtitle. I cant imagine how much affort Dimash put into this song, to learn a new song within few day is not a easy job especially when Dimash Chinese level is only up to Hello I am Dimash, how a you etc.

Dimash sang 6 octaves in one song. BTW don't feel bad getting that whistle note wrong. I think no equipment in this planet can measure it accurately. We need someone to send one from another galaxy.

This song is musical conversation between Emperor (Dimash at golden chair) and a Concubine (Li Yugang) Mr Li is a 41 years old and very famous Chinese traditional opera singer and He perform female parts. Li Yugang is a great opera chines singer, expert em female roles. For the Diva Dance what happens is he don't have those lows notes that the Diva Dance need, and only Dimash have.

Absolutely right. There was a quick slide E7 - F7 - and holded F#7. I think Dimash has better support in his head voice, and a more powerful voice.

Love this performance!!! Drunken Concubine in dialogue the tragic story between a famous concubine of the Chinese imperial court, Li Yugang in that role, and the emperor, Dimash’s rol that’s why the throne at stage. At the end of the story the concubine is poisoned as a result of court intrigues. Li Yugang is a famous artist considered China’s National Treasure and he is a nan dan singer (male playing female roles) art forms from Peking Opera, giving the traditional art a modern edge. The way he moves (knees bent together and those "meows" have a special meaning in the traditional opera). What is most amazing about Li is that he couldn’t study in the university or conservatory of music, he is absolutely autodidact which is so admirable!! 👌👍💥 ❤️🎤🔝 One of the things a I love the most of Dimash is his versatility and his ability to show us different cultures through the music. You should make video with a spectrum analyser, it might be very interesting.

The spectrum changes too fast to notice the peek frequency/note on the fly. To determine what pitch it is, you have to stop playing at the moment the note is playing, then look at the analyser screen and use a cursor to find the frequency.
@@andrewdronsson9028 And another difficulty: the precision is low at low frequencies. You can see a broad peak between 25 and 45 Hz so it can be anything from C1 to F1. To determine what exactly the frequency is, I used its harmonics, also visible as peaks in the spectrum. They were spaced at about 35 Hz. D1 is 36.71 Hz, so the conclusion was: the note is D1

Mr li yugang is a famous Chinese singer for he has men n women's voices. Drunken is his chinese opera. style song. His men's voice is so beautiful. His famous song in the world named " just met you"

He specialises in female roles, 'lan dan' basically means male playing female roles in Chinese Opera. Dimash of course is also a decorated Cultural Artist and a declared National Treasure...of course we all know Dimash is from Kazakhstan.
