Any tips on how to stop my hot-bar abilities from being removed accidentally when using mouse to move?
yeah move then in an area where you are not going to interact with them
Do you make sure that your cursor is always in the middle before you attempt mousemove?
Are you settting abilities as hotkeys

He learns from his pilot Kappa
