I just bought an old table with the intention of refinishing it only to discover it was all made of real wood..except the top, main part of the table! I was struggling to figure out what to do when I found this video. THANK YOU!!!!! You’ve saved my whole project and I can’t wait to try it!
Thank you so much I just bought a side table and sanded it down only to find out it was particle board so now I will be making it look like wood with my stain I planned on using anyways
I used Zar Ultra polyurethane on my new entry door and loved it. I just wish the Zar products are more available locally as none of the major home centers carry it.
I purchased an old table because I just loved the look of the chairs. Very throw back 80's kitchen table...metal of some sorts. Will this work on that? It's crazy what this paint can do, can it do it on that?
I have some baseboard and trim that's been painted off white, can I use this to make them look like wood again without removing the paint completely? Maybe by sanding the paint down some first, then applying this like the MDF was done? please help!
what is the name of the stain ? because I am on zar website and and there are two or three oil based wood stain there are transparent , tint base , what I have to use to stain fiberglass doors ? thanks
@@smiller8700 You can google it & it will give you options to click on explaining the difference between the Zinsser Bin & the Zinsser Bull Eye 123...If I read correctly you can try using Zinsser BIN primer after first sanding lightly so there is no shine left on your laminate furniture...I am going to try a different product so that I can skip the primer, but still have to lightly sand first. What I am going to use is called Retique It...I found this on Amazon, they have a video so you can see how it works...You have to use 2 coats...since I want my piece to still look like wood with wood grain b4 the 2nd. coats drys your suppose to dry brush it to look like wood grain or you can buy a wood grain tool-that is what I am going to use...once the second coat dries than I can either gel stain or use milk paint...the milk paint has a sealer in it so it's just 1-coat & your done...you can use a sealer after it dries if you want to, but you don't have to! There are many colors to choose from too! That's why I am considering using the milk paint to use on my laminate t.v. unit! I am considering the GF milk paint color in dark chocolate since that matches my kitchen cabinets that I used GF gel stain in Java!
Any oil based stain color will work. It’s a good idea to test a small dab of the stain on the controller to be sure that the plastic will hold up to the solvents in the stain. Chances 99% that there will be no problem, but better safe than sorry.
Is a old system called faux bois is a art to make surfaces to look like wood and has been around forever this video shows the cheapest way to do it . It takes a lot more skills than what is shown in this video to make the faux bois art

One of the best out there, having done 1000's of doors
Can you do this to laminate covering on cabinets

Would have loved to see the finished product of the pvc .. couldn’t quite get a look because of the amount of time you held it up??
Do you use CLEAR after stain dried?
Is this oil based stain? what do you think about trying this on exterior vinyl siding?

Will this only work with Zar products, or would other brands of wood stain (e.g., Minwax) work as well?
To stain laminate furniture you have to prime it first with what kind of primer?
did you ever find an answer to this question? i’m also hoping to use this on laminate furniture

I would like to try this using a white plastic PLayStation 4 controller. Would any color stain work?

Nice results I like it.
Would this work on black plastics?
I was hoping to find answer for the same question because I'd like to do it on a synthetic/plastic rifle stock.
No one has answered that question yet.
@@ronspearman it doesnt work. Already tried it
Ok, thanks. I'll have to go with one of those Realtree rifle wraps because I don't want to spray paint it.
Ohh.and the stain is water based as well as varnish
Wood grain look on PVC that's cool
Might want a dust mask while sanding.
What kind of witchcraft is this????
