When I was growing up I remember reading that the Aral Sea was the largest inland sea in the world. I knew there was desertification of this sea but I did not know that it was virtually gone. I also did not know that the sea was destroyed due to humans. I wonder whether climate change also played a part? Thanks for this informative video

The scientists believe it was predominantly a man-made disaster, but they also mentioned that its now in a vicious cycle - there are so many CFC gases let off from the barren surface that affect the ozone layer. However, there was some positive news around restoration of the Aral sea...

An important correction. Aral sea is not a sea it is a lake like Caspian Sea. They call it a sea because of its sheer size.
I am planning to visit khiva and also was considering Nukus and Aral Sea , but seeing the video i am hesitant considering the extremely long journey just to see barren land which was ones a lake makes no sense to me. I have travelled long distances in Egypt last month to see Abu Simbal and Edfu so traveling the distance is not an issue but just see a lake that is no more and some ships which has been actually cosmetically placed there for tourism .
You are a online content creator so , it makes sense for you to go.
Pls let me know if this is a right decision, as you have seen and experienced this in person.

If you don't have two days to spare on your journey in Uzbekistan, its probably better to skip Aral Sea. If you are curious you can go further north to the see what remains of the lake 😃

There's a train route connecting Nukus city with all other major cities in UZ. From Nukus to Aral Sea, you can either take the public bus or a shared taxi as in the video 😃
