These storylines run deep. The newest album is Scaled and Icy. This vid begins where “Saturday” left off (they were on a submarine, and the dragon crashed it). The small creature is Ned (first introduced in the Chlorine video), and has made a few appearances since. It now looks like there are nine of him, each ones’s horns seeming to control one of the bishops (who are Nico and the Niners). The trilogy you speak of is a middle section of the saga. So much more to it all, with more to come! Or just great tunes..lol.
excited that you checked this out! i've been loving this song ever since their album was released last year and am glad they finally gave it a music video, certainly a bit confusing! This video follows on from the Saturday video which I think is supposed to be a few years after the Trench trilogy because it showed the kids from the end of the Nico video all grown up. they worked with the same director as the Trench trilogy, very cinematic and lots of references to those videos in this one. Ned represents Tyler's creativity so it seems like Tyler is using his creativity to possess and defeat the bishops in some way, you should check out their music video Chlorine to see the first time we are introduced to Ned. So excited to see where they take the story next!
I only got into Twenty One Pilots about four years ago, when I listened on their TH-cam channel the fans would often give explain the story running through their videos, it's very deep and interesting, it also means the new songs make sense as soon as you listen to them, one of my favourite songs is Car Radio, I think you would enjoy that one
Hey Lee! Thanks for reacting to twenty one pilots Te Outside. It's so nice for me because it feels like I'm back home with you - it just feels right and familiar. Thanks for that!
Well done, I love hearing your perspective! The Outside metaphor for the music industry is one layer to it. The Megalodon v Megatron analogy can also represent how Tyler views the opposing sides of himself, which he writes about often in his music. A lot more of this has to do with the culmination of their music with the surrounding lore. It's a message about being on the Outside looking in, finding balance in fighting mental illness. Learning how to overcome external and internal attacks and taking back control of your life through finding your creativity and therefore, your purpose. The little creature is Ned who represents Tyler's creativity, and the red figures are bishops who represent fears/mental illness. There are SO many Easter eggs and references to their previous music throughout this one tying together Vessel, Blurryface, Trench, and SAI. 💛💙💛
The video is a part of the same story as the Trench videos - the story is just a lot more in depth now as they've released a lot more info on the story - the Saturday music video is what came right before this video - if you watch that video you'll see where Tyler came from at the beginning I think the song itself is about how Tyler isn't sure he's a part of the cool new kids anymore in music - he's now the person others are copying - so he's outside of the new music scene and maybe not the cool guy anymore but he's always thrived on being on the outside and not following trends
Oh I missed that you’d done this- so many reactions I can’t keep up with you!! Tbh I was like oh he’s not gonna keep up with this - there’s so much lore in between trench & this to follow. To fully understand it you need to do a lot of homework or be following from the start. But this doesn’t stop you from enjoying an awesome song. And as always it had an interpretation within the storyline & on its own.
The Bishop and Tyler is the same person, that is my interpretation. I'm not in the click that knows, I just make it up. Always nice movies though, and I love them to death.
Not a new song but great reaction! This story is so deep, you should watch a lot of things tbh. Some will say that just heavydirtysoul-jumpsuit-nico and the niners-levitate-saturday-the outside. But honestly, every music video (goner, shy Away, choker, Chlorine etc etc etc) in some way or another has to do with the story they have been telling from 2009 (and yes, every album too), and there's a Livestream experience too and idk, just enjoy the songs/journey like you have been doing. Great video!

Hey long time no....Bee 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the info,it's in-depth as usual!! I shall check it out in more depth 😁👌
It's a continuation to the 'saturday' music video.. it's not a new song just a new mv, the song dropped a while back with the rest of the album

Cool so I wasn't that far away with some of my theories! Nice one 😁

You should check out the video for Saturday, cuz the events of this video take place after that one, and yeah, it’s all part of the lore
