Thanks man, I will get the Ikea Lack this week. What’s the white cover for the cables? I had a look on your old vids and it’s not mentioned anywhere. Thanks
Hey whoislucian I completely forgot to talk about it in the older video but I’ve bought loads of it in black or white depending what looks neatest. Looks like it’s called D-line spiral wrap or D-line cord zipper amzn.to/3NaxESx (affiliate)
Great video and easy to follow. I did your steps however my Sonos app still reports PCM 2.0. Any ideas on what to check? My HDMI cables are HDMI 2.1. LG C2 tv.
Hey @rustygriswold! I updated it since so maybe that’s why? The Ultimate Dolby Atmos Guide for PS5 and Sonos Arc th-cam.com/video/O62vTWrhPz0/w-d-xo.html
Wow, been gaming for a while now with a comparable setup, didn’t thought there would be so many settings I could change to get the best out of the setup. Thanks! One question though, why set it to av-amplifier instead of tv or soundbar?
Hey @sisock1795! Hopefully soon, that update is still in Beta and hasn’t officially been released. I’ll have to release an updated video when it is widely available and I’ve tested :-)
I noticed you commented having the ps5 in a seperate port, so with the LG CX, you wont be able to use 4k 120Hz modes for the ps5 (Since it only has one 4k120 port, which ís the eARC port)? Does the arc not support 4k120 passtrough? Currently debating over getting the arc but these questions remain hard to find answers to. Thanks.
Hey Jordie! CX has 4 x HDMI 2.1 ports all capable of 4k 120hz. One of the is HDMI 2.1 AND eArc (enhanced Audio return channel) so it can be used for external speakers like the Sonos Arc with full audio support. That leaves 3 more HDMI 2.1 for anything else that supports 4k 120hz and all the other features. Make sense?
@LovingTechLife oh my! You just saved me a LOT of headache! The way the lettering is on the CX's port 2 made it seem that only port 2 was both eARC and 120Hz, and I was scratching my head how to set up a future soundbar! I just tested the other port and you're right! Thanks so much for your quick response!
If im not using anything else but the sonos arc exclusively, should i still use av receiver setting at 5.1? And if so, do i need to make adjustments to the speaker positions? Thanks.
Hey @ActionJeezus! Correct 5.1 and Linear PCM. Not sure what you mean about adjustments to the position of the speakers though if you just have the Arc, can you explain? Note when Sony updates the firmware later this year there will be full Dolby Atmos support so we may change our default settings from linear PCM to Dolby Atmos when it’s available.
@LovingTechLife Hey man thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay on my part. I was referring to the setting in the PS5 audio controls right below selecting 5.1 that allows for the adjustment of "speaker positions" in relation to the way the console is outputting the audio. It says "Adjust Speaker Positions" and it allows you to set the rear speaker angle of output as low as 90° and since it is a Soundbar I was wondering if that would be the optimal choice. Thanks again for your help.
Hey @de9591, they don’t specify and they might change over time however the cable they provide needs to be at least 18gbps capable which it is. HDMI 2.1 is playing it safe with up to 48Gbps bandwidth. If you’re just using the provided cable for the Arc then you’ll be fine however don’t use it between a PS5 or Xbox Series console as they 100% need to be 2.1
Hey @RatedRRaj! 1. If you do this then how will the TV get an image? :-) 2. The Arc does not support the tempest 3D audio engine, however PS5 is adding Dolby Atmos support in the near future so you can get 3D audio to the Arc
@@LovingTechLife But why does the PS5 setting include ‘Soundbar’ then? That’s what I’m talking about. What difference does it make whether you select AV amplifier or soundbar?
@RatedRRaj From memory it’s because Soundbar option has processing in PS5 before it hits the Arc and it’s better to have unprocessed for the Arc to leave it so the processing and it’s the best option to choose if your TV has eArc.
