  • Today we're taking a look at some older and less used cars in Assetto Corsa Competizione and investigate, if they're viable options for competitive racing, or if they're utter garbage! We're taking a look at the Jaguar, Reiter Engineering REX and the Aston Martin Vantage V12, all driven at the wonderful Imola!

Quick answer: In a competitive environment they are simply too hard and too slow simultaniously.

Seems like a valid reason to drive something different!

      (PS5)
For example the Jag is one of the fastest cars in the game but many can't drive it simply because it is so raw that many people can't understand how a relatively "ancient" GT car works.
It takes time to learn its particulars, setup changes etc.
It does not like slow paced corners but tracks with a mid-high speed layout really suits the car.
+ the feeling when you score a podium/victory in a car that everyone looks down is simply amazing 😇

I think a good one left out there is the old McLaren 650 seems to have good handling and not to bad on pace with the right setup worth a video to 👍

It's a shame the DBR9 didn't make it too the game as a hidden car but the V12 vantage is just as good. While the V8 drives well it kind of doesn't feel like an Aston martin in my opinion.

if it did there wouldn't be anything fast enough to keep up with it, it would probably hold a solid 3-4 second a lap advantage over even brand new gt3s

In the ACC competition servers today (Spa), I used the Porsche 991 II GT3 R, 2013 Aston Martin V12, and 2018 Nissan GTR. I am generally slow, but managed the same times with the Porsche and Aston. The Nissan turns in better than the Aston, but the Aston is faster on the long straights. The Aston feels more nose heavy, compared to the Nissan. On Misano, I am 2 seconds faster with the Nissan, than the Porsche or Aston. But the main reason for driving the Aston, is the engine sound. It makes a long practice session on Mount Panorama fly by!

Interesting video man!! The only cars in ACC i have real experience with are the Vantage V8, 720s, and now Audi R8 Evo II. Might have to try especially the V12 Vantage out against AI, looks like alot of fun!! Great video man :D

i just spent an hour trying to make the v12 vantage actually turn, and i was semi successful. you just can't quite get rid of the understeer, but FFB is very nice. i don't care if a car is meta or not, there's always people who are faster than me anyways, so i might as well drive a car i like. i wish people played the GT4s more online, my absolute favourite car to drive in this game is the alpine.

It's why i have always affectionately nicknamed the Jaguar "Grandad" because of it's age. Still athletic enough to have a go with the younger generation cars :3

Real reason in general is that for every car you tested there's a newer, improved model built to succeed where its predecessor failed(except the Jag because the F-Type GT3 went shut down, maybe there's some testing footage but nothing else).
Also, as a McLaren supporter I'd be interested in seeing a part 2 featuring the 650S, even knowing that the IRL BoP had apparently a liking in slowing it down("A successful season is the worst thing that can happen to a Manufacturer" has been said on Dailysportscars, and the car won the Blancpain on its first year with its old name).

First of all, when you are going to use a simulator like ACC, you have to understand that no car is slow and boring, because otherwise, they would not be in that competition. That is what it is about, that we are no longer facing a Real Racing, an NFS or a Forza Horizon. I'm sure someone who drives one of those cars in real life would not think the same. I think starting racing one of those cars is a real opportunity to improve the competitiveness of the driver.

I use the Aston all the time, she's fast where it counts and with the right setup she glides those corners without too much of an issue, however it's always waiting to punish you when you take to the limits

If you want straight up consistency go with those beast. I ended up here because I'm researching the Reiter. AOR Season 10 sign up is open...my 1st on PC so if you want the challenge I'll accept and chose Reiter vs any one you want. V12 in my hands is a straight up podium contestant any day. It is better than the v8 once you know how to use the slip angles.

650s and RCF. I don’t see them nearly as much anymore. A lot newer to ACC so it’s not that surprising

... i just started racing sim with ACC and somehow i find the aston martin v12 is easier to drive , as in easier not to eat grass or invalidate laps
