It's such a beautiful composition that it never fails to cause me to have to take a breath and control my feelings. And I'm what most would call a manly man. What? Does that mean I'm not supposed to have feelings? It's not true. Music like this can bring tears of joy to my eyes, too.
I am in awe, for such a tender soul, expressing such emotions of human being. This is the most harmonious, enchanting, nostalgic and emotional expression of sadness and loss. One can only have deep appreciation for composers and musicians. Thank you.
Gidon Kremer's performance of this song is exquisite, he makes the violin absolutely sing. I agree that this is the best ever performance of Oblivion. I play an easier version on the piano, but nothing compares to the sound of his violin. I discovered Piazzola's slow tangos after hearing this several years ago and it is my all time favourite, along with Tanti Anni Prima and Chiquilin.
