BEST ending of the series and possibly my favorite of all time (Made me cry)
BEST Villains in the series with my immediate favorite Young Ocelot

I thought 3 was the most polished of any of the MGS games. Only MGS1 can really compare in terms of story and pacing.
I love Metal Gear Solid more than anything... but 2 went down a rabbit hole and 4 was nothing but fan service (which was enjoyable as a fan, but looking back 7 years after the fact, it probably could have been something much better. Actually, it definitely could have been much better).
It certainly could have been better, but looking at it from its positives it is so hard not hold it high in praise. The fact of MGS 1 story being so good made MGS 3 better.
If you're interested you should watch the SuperBunnyhop channel called Critical Close-up on MGS 2 & 3. Nice perspective on both

Infamous Second Son is not the best game on the ps4. Right now the best PlayStation games on PS4 are The Last of Us Remastered, Metal Gear Solid V: TPP, and Bloodborne.

He is very concise in presenting his point of view in a non-confrontational way that makes the space between our tastes enriching and not just disagreement for the sake of it. We've played more games then anyone on earth.
1) Wild Arms IS NOT the best PS1 JRPG.
2) Shadow of the Colossus IS one the best games ever made.
3) The PSP has WAY more awesome games than PSVita.
4) We 100% completed EVERY Zelda game (including Cdi games) AT TIME OF RELEASE... & Okami IS BETTER than the vast majority of them.
5) People who "like" MGS2 are not MGS fans, but people who think MGS is a complete joke.
6) Colin WAS (THEE) PLAYSTATION HEAD OF THE LARGEST VIDEOGAME WEBSITE ON THE INTERNET. smh.
7) Tearaway & Gravity Rush ARE really good Vita games.

I feel like you need to include Sly 3 on the PS2 list. Also, Ratchet and Clank 3 is undeniably one of the best PS2 games. I honestly feel like people don't give that game enough credit. One of the best 3D platformers ever made to be honest.
Going Commando was a bit better though.

For PS3 games you guys didn't mention Demon's Souls or Dark Souls. Demon's Souls is an exclusive and Dark Souls was its spiritual sequel but it sold double on PS3 because it was clearly associated with PS3.
I'm surprised you guys didn't find those on any other lists especially Dark Souls. Kotaku put them in their games that defined last generation. IGN put Dark Souls at 23rd place for all of last generation. Eurogamer put Dark Souls at 2nd place for last generation and Demon Souls at 13th for all last generation. Some of the gameinformer people listed Dark Souls as a top 5 from last gen. Technobuffalo did a best last gen list but didn't number them and Dark Souls was on the list. EDGE ranked Dark Souls #1 best game of last generation. And that's just the first page of google search.

Oh man, there are so many. Journey, Metal Gear Solid 1-4, Peace Walker. Persona 3 and 4. All four Uncharted games. The Last of Us, inFamous 1 and 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Crash Bandicoot, Final Fantasy VI, VII, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of The White Witch, Silent Hill 2, Ace Combat 5, Shadow of The Colossus.
And that's before talking about third party games like the Arkham games, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Assassin's Creed II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and MW2. So many.

It's a shame they don't care about driving games because Driveclub is by far the best exclusive game out right now. Forget what people say about it, it just had a bad launch. And while that should not be forgiven, it doesn't tell you what the actual GAME is like. And the game is spectacular.
Michael Miller It's just the servers that made it seem like the game was actually bad. The truth is that the game is spectacular, at least to me and my club who are constantly playing it.
Driveclub has a very important factor in it, that a lot of games fail to deliver. It has that "just one more go" factor in it. Similar to games like Resogun and Stardust like Colin says. It's a high score chasing type of games where you just feel the NEED to beat your friends.
There is always something in Driveclub that you want to achieve, something that keeps you playing when you really should be turning it off. Getting all the stars in tour mode is a challenging task. Trying to level up your accolades for more fame is a really addicting thing. Beating your friends on the leaderboards who seem so far out of reach, but you just keep trying to pass them.
This is how you have to play the game, you can't treat it like Gran Turismo or Forza which are more solo experiences.
I could not agree more. It's definitely a fantastic experience, especially after the tweaks and fixes they've made. They've worked very hard to get it up to speed, and it's a shame that all people seem to remember was the botched launch. It's my favorite PS4 exclusive by far. It looks and plays incredibly well. A definite top-tier title.

I know I am in a minority, but infamous 1 and 2 never sucked me in, never completed them. Infamous Second Son I played until I platinumed it. It was my first platinum and the first game that made me want to play it through completely twice like that. Loved it.
I don't think you're necessarily in the minority, even though I personally really enjoyed my time with Infamous 1 and 2. My only issue with those games and what I think kept them from being more successful was Cole MacGrath himself... He was so boring to me, boring character design, boring personality, etc. I hoped that Delsin would do it for me but I ended up disliking him for completely different reasons. In my opinion their best protagonist so far has been Fetch... That's just me though.
Robert Appleby I only picked up Infamous a few years after it came out (PSN free game thing when their servers were hacked), and it already felt so dated. And I play a lot of old games. Story was meh and the choices were laughable for a villain which I was going as (be evil just coz), characters were truly awful and forgettable, some powers were cool but the overall combat was just alright. Second Son was much better even if it's not a truly great game and still suffers from boring story and characters. Fetch was nothing more than okay.

Uncharted Golden Abyss was terrible. Yea, it was Uncharted, but it lacked that Naughty Dog flare. The story wasn't interesting, the shooting wasn't tight, the design wasn't smart, it was just mediocre.
Actually, the only thing that Uncharted GA did better than the trilogy on PS3 was the exploration aspect of it. I felt like an explorer.

Endek time traveller that’s the 2nd best part about 4 was they fixed the shooting, 1st being the grappling hook.
On PS2 and i stand by this, SSX 3 is a timeless classic. Graphics, soundtrack, gameplay were amazing. The Three fleshed out mountains where you could free-roam at your pace and will. Are you kidding me ? It's a game that was way ahead of its time.

I swear, I fanboy out anytime someone mentions Metro Redux, or the Metro series in general. It makes me happy everytime because I seriously do not think that series gets enough credit. Y'all are full of shit! CLEARLY, the best game on PS1 is Spiderman. Monster Ock? Mysterio? Daredevil? The Punisher? All of the Venom scenes? Ohhhhhh doctor... And don't even get me started on all the cheat codes, they made the game that much better!

Love your videos guys! Quick tip I once got and love to pass on: "The Levelator". Evens out your audio volume levels so people can go from mutters to shouts and not be too loud or too soft. Also gives some great "radio polish" to all voices. Free, open source. Check it out! Best podcasting tip I ever got! (And you should be able to drop your "levelated" audio file into your video editor, too.) Your viewers/listeners will love you even more! Keep up the great work! -Paeter

I completely agree with Colin on the ps2 era. Onimusha 2 is one of those games I played over and over again to get each story branch, and the great thing about those deviations in the story is that they lead to such different experiences! You could play as some of the side characters if you traded with them correctly (I'll admit, that trading mechanic was rubbish without some online guide) or you'd have to fight one of them near the end of the game. Absolutely brilliant game and really hope Capcom give the series some current-gen love soon.
Also, Dark Cloud 2 is a game I break out every two years or so just to play it again. The town building was great and it was such a joy to see these miniscule changes like having buildings facing a certain direction or it being near water have effects on the future version of the town. Side note, Spheda remains my favorite mini-game of all time. Great episode you guys!
Metal Gear Solid 3 is amazing. THe cammo thing doesn´t matter, I used it just the necessary amount of time, no more. But the bosses, the setting/s, the story, the gameplay are all truly incredible. I enjoyed MGS 2 as well, had one of the weirdest experiences playing it from 9pm to 9am and thinking I was going crazy when Roy starts telling crazy shit to Raiden, so much that I thought I had been playing for so long that my ps2 had overheated and all had gone to hell. It´s a great game but I loved Snake Eater so much.

My personal favorite Metal Gear game is MGS2 and even then it is hard for me to pick it over Final Fantasy X. As for the PS4, I feel like Guilty Gear is the best although it was released for PS3 as well. And my choice for Portable ops over peace walker is because the characters are more interesting and the boss fights are more varied.

PS2 - Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms (Runner Up - Kingdom Hearts 2)
PS3 - ...would be Uncharted Trilogy or Last of Us most likely, but i missed the ps3 :(
PSP - Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (also favorite of the franchise)
PSVita - Persona 4: Golden (shoutouts to Binding of Isaac and Rogue Legacy)
PS4 - Too early to choose :)

Side Note: Can you guys make sure that Tim either speaks up or turns his audio level up. He tends to talk softer when he's using his "hosting voice". I'm constantly turning up my volume to hear him and then turning it down when Greg and Colin (but especially Greg) start getting loud. I'm sure that this will get better with time, but I just wanted to give some feedback. Keep up the great work, Beyond!

As a playstation fanboy I loved this episode.
PS1: Resident Evil 1 or 2 (I beat 1 maybe six times and 2 about 3 I think)
PS2: FFXII (I wish Icarus were a real world)
PS3: Uncharted 3 (I feel it's more accessible to the average gamer than TLOU which is very dark)
PS4: Resogun (it's so addicting!)
Vita: Gravity Rush (I love the aesthetics)
PSP: God of War: Chain's of Olympus (Solid portable game)
I 100% think of Transistor and Bastion as multi-platform games, and I never think of them as Playstation only... mostly because the PC presence is so huge for both of those games.

*PS4*- Probably Resogun.
*PS Vita*- I really love OlliOlli, but I haven't really played any of the Vitas many JRPS
*PS3*- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. It was just amazing at the time and just blew my mind. Certainly one of the biggest steps in the cinematic games department.
*PS2*- Metal Gear Solid 3. HOW THE FUCK HAVEN'T YOU PLAYED THIS GAME!? The best Metal Gear. PERIOD. Story wise, it wipes the floor with ANY of the other MGS games. In terms of gameplay, it's very similar to 2, but just more.
*PSP*- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Not much to say here, really. Just a ton of fun, a great story and will tie in nicely with MGS V.
*PS1*- Crash Bandicoot 2. Many, many hours of fun. That's really what this game is about. ITS FUN AS HELL. I really want to give it to MGS1, because I just LOVE that game. Overall, MGS is the better game, but Crash just had that amazing fun-factor.
