We made ours the other night, the traditional way - no electric whisk and lots of elbow grease! We're now at the happy stage of feeding it whiskey once a week until Dec 25th

You could off used the spare mix instead of over filling the tin, to make smaller xmas cakes and bake in small ramekin tins/dishes, 3 hours for a 7inch cake is a long time, you will need to keep feeding it with more brandy to keep it moist.

I'd prefer one with yellow icing and expensive Smarties . . . hint hint 🤣 I made a boiled fruit cake today, for my mum & dad, in my Ninja Speedi. It took about 50 minutes in total using the steam bake function. I used my energy monitor, and that cost me 20p. It's only the second cake I've made in there. I hope it's cooked properly and they enjoy it haha. I wonder what it would turn out like in the Cosori pressure cooker? That has a cake function. Like a Christmas pudding? I think you should give it a try 😁 And before I forget, I've been out for tea tonight. My pudding was TREACLE sponge with custard. Yes, it said treacle on the menu even though it was golden syrup. I will always call it Treacle sponge. Delicious 😋😋😋

Cooking a cake like a dense christmas cake is going to be far more fiddly than cooking it in a conventional oven. For a start, it cooks completely differently. In an air fryer, it cooks from the outside in so its harder to get the middle cooked without the outer being over cooked. A ring pan will be more successful as it allows the heat to reach the middle of the cake. You might have had better luck with a cake half the depth of the one you made. I found cakes like banana and carrot tricky as well. Rather than tent the whole cake, tenting the outer edge would slow down the cooking of it yet allow heat into the middle.
Hi Graham and Wendy, well it looks lovely and it is a very deep cake. I don't think i would have put all the mixture into one cake. You could have probably gotten a two pound loaf one out of it as well. When i used to do mine in my fan oven it would take about one hour and fifteen minutes and i used to put a dish of water in the oven to stop the cake from drying out. I think i would have done it at 150 with it being very deep. But it's all trial and error, i shouldn't really comment as i've not done one myself. One good point was the amount of money it cost which was really good. Yes you want to invest in a stand mixer it's a pity you couldn't get in touch with Kenwood or Kitchen Aid to see if you could get one to review. As always i enjoyed the video

Hi Linda, that great smell brings back lovely memories for us when life was much simpler. Wendy made enough mixture for a two pound Christmas pudding. We’ve cooked that today. The smell of that rich mixture was lovely. 🥰😍❤️😘👍

Hi Linda, I’ve not blamed the air fryer. The dual blaze is great, I didn’t say it took to long. It took how long it took it wasn’t a problem. 🥰😍👍
I would had put that cake on 180 for 2 half hrs on bake. Perhaps the temp is to low.👍
