Hi mate, we did mess up but that’s life. We’ve been buying potatoes from Lidl lately and they all cook so differently. I’ve gone back to buying a bag from the local farm. I’ve always felt they were better anyway.

Wendy noticed I put tomatoes instead of potatoes, I don’t know if you noticed, how did I manage that one 😂😂😂😂🤷‍♂️

Hi dormouse, I’m sorry to say but I think grummpy and me are more alike than you might think.😂😂😂😂😂😂. Wendy and me are finding this new TwinFry so convenient and easy to use. I bought the Meater hoping it would help explain some of our cooking times and temperatures. I’m finding it very interesting to be honest. I’m not saying go out and buy one it’s more for this TH-cam channel. I understand what you’re saying about cooking a Turkey and other meat. I’ve seen plenty of meat cooked on the internet that I would be careful of and I know Wendy wouldn’t touch. We have to remember many people in this country haven’t ever cooked anything. 🥰😍❤️😘

He gives impression of being hard done to washing dishes but hmmm (a Wendy like Hmmm😂) Who made him Dormouse fantastic Mac and Cheese he was craving it while a they stuck to Slimming World and had a Tuna Bean Salad and Baked Tattie last night a, Dormouse of course. I agree Thermometer is fascinating to know exactly what's going on by for years ourselves, mums Nannies all cooked and baked by eye, ear look and feel. I think stopping teaching Home Economics at school has a lot to answer. I know many of my daughters friends girls and boys had no clue, about budget, shop and cook as their parents were not taught at school or home. I would teach them when they came round after school or stayed overnight and now in their early 30's with high living costs they are pleased I let them loose in my kitchen. I am just a enthusiastic home cook who learnt from my Auntie and her mum at aged 5 and realised at school learning Food and Nutrition would help when I did Nursing and heck it did in all aspects of care for patients and feeding us student nurses at end of a shift. I am off for coffee and scrambled eggs as again awake all night due to pain, still dark outside and a tad to nippy to sit with a coffee outside 🥰💜x

@@hjcdormouse7337 I nearly said to you I wish I had learnt to cook at school. It was a girls thing and us boys did metalwork, woodwork and technical drawing. That suited me better and how I earned my living after leaving school. Things are so different now, I know people who have jobs and work hard but I’ve no idea what they actually do. @grahamgetsabout2672 Grumpy did that he worked was diverted down what was seen as boys subjects and went into Shipyards learnt trade as Electrician but can turn his hand to anything. When Shipyard closed worked with BT and suddenly in 40's decided he would go into Nursing as well. I had been Nurse since I was 17... I was do not come on training placement to my ward as I was a Sister by then 😂 We both took very different paths in Nursing and now retired still debate who's specialty was better. My daughter very much a creative as started off as a photographer but at same time trained as Early Years Practioner and now back re training with aim of Social Worker. My son in law heck lovely but clueless could not hang a picture straight as for cooking not interested but he had a different up bringing. Grumpy has become more adventurous in kitchen and always in charge of Roast Dinner but like you and Wendy we work together have a laugh along the way and yep some cross words occasionally but we rub along heck after nearly 39 years we each have areas that are just ours. Grumpy loves DIY. I am happy ironing and in kitchen and used to be dog walker when I was able. Grumpy says I am organiser and one who sorts out everyone's problems as I point out yep but he is needed when electrics go off or boiler plays up....each to their own skill but work together. My coffee was lovely, now having tea with door open, hot water bottle and watching birds listening to sea roar. Right till next time take care 🥰💜x

Hi Vince, that comparison chart would have taken me ages. I don’t know how to tell you we have the same chart. We can’t understand if something needs 180c why does it need a lower temperature in the air fryer. I understand the speed of the fan but I started using an oven thermometer, when I started to find 180c means 180c in any Airfryer I used I didn’t lower the temperature with meat. I do with some baking though. I’m finding times are dodgy as well like me, I prefer to go by internal temperature of food rather than length of cooking time. I’ve seen chickens cook in really fast times and I’ve tried it but I’m telling you if it doesn’t fall off the bone Wendy won’t eat it. We might over cook a bit Vince but that’s how we prefer it. It’s not a race although the air fryer ovens tend to take a little longer than the draw models. I’m not sure if this will make any sense to you. Let me know mate. 👋👋👋👋🤞

@@grahamgetsabout2672 It makes sense to me! I've just Googled why does an air fryer need a lower temperature. It says its because it heats up quicker and cooks quicker 🤷‍♀ I must say the apple turnovers I made the other night cooked really fast. They were lovely too 😋❤

I lower my temperatures as well for food that is reheated like ready meals they have already cooked up to the safe temperature so only really need warming, but I never go below 170. And I do use a thermometer to make sure the food is above 160. None precooked ready meals I obviously treat as needing to reach temperature if that makes sense.

Blimey !!! That is one big comment. When we were working we probably wouldn’t have seared anything, we would have just thrown it in and gone to work. We have a little more time now but try to make things as tasty and as cheaply as we can. I wonder what the subscribers would say if we did it your way. I’m not saying you’re wrong I bet it’s great. We do use the butcher but most of our shopping is done at the supermarket due to cost and travel. It was still a lovely pie, we’re not aiming for perfection we will leave that to the fancy chefs.

Hi, we try not to be too serious. One thing we’ve learnt, if you overload an air fryer it slows it right down and the food is unevenly cooked. I think that’s partly why they are getting bigger. 👋👋👋👋👌

I’m the same with the tomatoes in the summer, I can be outside for hours and hours. If I fancy a bit of excitement I watch the twin tub going round. At 30p a kWh I can’t afford to pay Wendy as well.
